Gentle and playful, the Upper New River is a relaxing section of river that appeals to all ages. Perfect for reunions, scout and church groups! Individual or double “duckies” (inflatable kayaks) are available for those who want to go face-to-face with the river or ride in a guided rafts and enjoy a leisurely day in the scenic West Virginia mountains. Available in a one- or two-day length.

lOwER nEw RivERAdvEnTuRE clASS: clASS ii-ivAgES+ 12 SummER, 14+ SpRingThe Lower New River builds momentum gradually and delivers big ‘hits’ and big smiles at all water levels. Enjoy abundant river history, Wildlife, a really big bridge, and scenic gorge views. Standard trips offer 18 ft. rafts and up to nine guests per boat. High Adventure small raft options are available for bigger thrills!

OvERnighT TRipS Great food, plenty of whitewater, entertaining guides, and a beautiful setting … Spend a day paddling duckies on the Upper New before camping alongside the river where you’ll refule and rest before tackling the New River Gorge on day 2.

Revered by seasoned boaters and welcomed by novices, the Lower Gauley is a great prelude to the Upper Gauley, or as it’s own Gauley adventure! Roller coaster waves, big hydraulics, and over twenty-four major rapids create drenching days on this beautiful section of river.

uppER gAulEywORld clASS: clASS ii-v+ minimum AgE: 16 World Class, extreme rafting at its best, including five of the biggest Class V rapids in North America! This is big whitewater with little room for errors, so get your game face on, grab a paddle join us over 40 major rapids and some life-long memories!

TRAvEling FROm ThE nORThI-79 South to US Rt. 19 South (towards Summersville). Take the US Rt. 60 (Midland Trail) Exit and turn right at the end of the offramp. You’ll find us ¼ mile down Rt. 60 on the right.

TRAvEling FROm ThE SOuTh,I-79 North to US Rt. 19 North (towards Summersville). Follow Rt. 19 North across the New River Gorge Bridge. Continue on Rt. 19N till the exit for Rt. 60 (Midland Trail). At the end of the offramp, turn right and NARR will be slightly more than ¼ mile west on Rt. 60 on the right.

FROm ThE wESTFor main road: I-64 West to Beckley to Rt. 19 North. Then follow directions “from the South” above.

FROm ThE EAST/chARlESTOnFor main road: I-64/I-77 South to Beckley, then follow US Rt. 19 North and follow the “from the south” directions above.For scenic traveling*: US Rt. 60 East (Midland Trail) towards Rainelle/Ansted and follow to Hico. NARR is 1 mile past the Hico Foodland on the Left. If you reach Rt. 19, you’ve gone ¼ mile too far. Through the small towns on this route, please obey all speed limits to avoid tickets.

Lodging Camping, Bunkhouses, and Cabin Tents allow you and your group, regardless of size, to stay together and play together! Our new private bathhouse in the campground is the best in the industry! If you want your mountain experience to be solely on the river, there are lots of motels, hotels, state park lodges, resorts and rental homes providing a broad array of lodging accommodations. We use the region’s best and can make the arrangements for you.

NARR’s High Country Cafeoffers a variety of delicious buffet or menu items including stone-oven fired pizzas. Conveniently located in the center of our base camp, it’s just a short distance from paintball, the climbing wall, campground, cabin tents and bunkhouses.
