HONOR Honor: Describes the complex of all values that make up the public code of the individual. Significantly, honor provides the motive for action and demands adherence to a public moral code, not protection of reputation.Juan Velasquez is a junior aeronautical science major at Em-bry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott where he is also training to be a pilot. As a first generation American and col-lege student, Juan serves the Embry-Riddle Prescott colony as standards chairman. He also holds the position of secretary for the Board of Campus Activities, as well as the ALPA ACE Club. After graduation Juan hopes to one day fly for Delta Airlines as a commercial pilot. Juan is just one of dozens of undergraduate young men who are receiving scholarship assistance from the educational foundation so they can have a Lambda Chi Alpha experience. Thanks to our generous donors, the educational foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships annually to our undergraduate brothers.

To learn more about Juans Lambda Chi story, go to www.lambdachi.org/juanvelasquez.

Integrity: Encompasses the sum total of a persons set of values his private moral code. A breach of any of these values will damage the individuals integrity. Integrity, closely related to the word integer, refers to a notion of completeness or wholeness.

Over three days, participants learn the fundamentals of serving as chief executive officer for their respective chapter or colony, with emphasis on leadership, ethics, operations management, external relations and harm reduction. The summit features presentations from speakers in the Greek/higher education community, and participants learn and work in small groups with brothers from all over North America. The summit seeks to equip participants with the necessary tools and best practices to improve communication, manage others effectively and to de-velop efficiency as the chapter leader. While discussing common issues among chapters and colonies, participants gain valuable information on values based leadership and develop their core competencies of communication, problem solving, goal setting and interpersonal skills.

Duty: Delineates the sum total of all laws, rules, and customs that make up our organizational, civic, and moral obligations. Our values originate with duty because we expect individuals, as a minimum, to fulfill their obligations. We often expect indi-viduals to exceed their duty, especially in ethical matters.

Jack Hesser is a senior microbiology and botany double major at Ball State University. In his four years at Ball State, Jack has created the worlds first international journal for under-graduate microbiology research, founded the first student-run national coalition of student governments, and has even pub-lished in fields such as anthropology and teaching. Currently he serves as the president of the student body as well as the Lambda Chi chapter president. Jack would not be the leader he is today without the generosity of our donors.
