The tremendous downforce generated by F1 cars allows them to turn corners at a blazing 320km/h, almost double the speed that a normal sports car can handle.

Brake to speed up?! The Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic (MGU-K) in each F1 car can convert the energy generated from braking to produce up to 160 brake horsepower for about 33 seconds per lap.

Each team competing in the FIA F1 World Championship now travels something like 160,000 kilometres (100,000 miles) a year between races and test sessions.

The highest recorded speed of a F1 car during a race is 369 km/h (229 mph). Thats faster than the average take-off speed of a jumbo jet!

Why does the Singapore Grand Prix have 61 laps? The circuit length, when multiplied by the number of laps, meets the minimum distance of 305km required for F1 races (61 x 5.065km = 308.828km).
