2015 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

We simply can’t thank you enough for your support of the Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation in 2015. As we reflect on a successful year and plan for many new initiatives, we want to take the time to tell you how you have made our community a better place for seniors and their families. We can’t say it any bet-ter than the Fairport Baptist Homes staff who work directly with our residents and their families each day:

“The Education Department received an allocation of $5,000 from the Foundation that was used for End of Life & Hospice Care Education for CNA’s/HRAC’s working at FBH.  It was a great success as we had 19 participants completing the program. We culminated with an awards dinner held here at FBH in December with over 55 guests.  Thank you so much for this grant for it awoke the desire for education in our staff and enlightened us all on the positive impact of communication and hard work.” -Mansura Malik, RN, BSN, Staff Education Clinical Coordinator

“Thank you! Thank you! The NEO and ultrasound machine have enabled us to treat a wider variety of short-term patients and LTC residents and have allowed us to better address pain and swelling.  And we also thank you for the EZ-stand lifts.  We have been able to improve resident participation in transfers and decrease staff workloads. We very much appreciate your generosity and interest in improving the quality of care for FBH residents!” – Jodi Illingworth, Director, Rehabilitation

“The Foundation grant allowing us to purchase a baby grand piano for our chapel has brought the gift of beautiful music to residents and their families. What a difference it has made. We have a concert series planned for 2016. This would not have been possible without this grant and the donors who made it possible.” – Reverend Jennifer Streeter, Chaplain

In addition to over $70,000 in grants including those listed above, your gifts also support the daily work of Fairport Baptist Homes and Senior Options for Independence (SOFI). Just a few highlights for 2015 include:

• Completed renovations of 14 households including new kitchens and dining room furniture and renovations to the main lobby

• 100% occupancy at Deland Acres and Elizal Court• 2,920 rides provided to seniors in our community on the Elderbus• 800 individual clients served by SOFI care managers• The continuation of the popular “Backyard Adventures” program and the start of a church transpor-

tation service, both making sure seniors remian engaged and active in the community.

Save the Date! Wednesday, July 20thA premier Rochester annual golf tournament, the “Swing For Seniors Classic”

raises funds for The Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation. An annual sell-out, 2016 will now offer 2 course locations.

Join us for golf at either Ravenwood Golf Club or Bristol Harbour followed by dinner and after party at Ravenwood Golf Club at 5:30pm.

Our new baby grand piano arrived to the Fairport Baptist Home chapel. This generous gift was made possible by The Fairport Baptist Homes

Foundation and the Davenport-Hatch Foundation.

With help from a grant from The Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation, our Tool Thrift Shop celebrated its 5th anniversary! To date, our volunteers have

raised $250,000 to help seniors in our community and have recycled more than 34 tons of scrap metal and given us over 30,000 hours of their time.

19 of our CNA’s received advanced training and education on end of life care through an award provided by The Fairport Baptist Homes Foundation.

The training provided certification in hospice and palliative nursing, loss and bereavement, and communicating with families.

“Step Up for Seniors” Walk will be Saturday, September 17thDon Alhart, from 13WHAM-TV, hosts and walks for “Team Lois” – in honor of his mother, who was a resident for many years at Fairport Baptist Homes. Bring the family and help us raise funds for senior programs and services. Register to create your own team or come on your own and walk with us!
