Four-Year Plan Tips

• Use your transcript to fill in classes you have already taken.

• Use the online Course Selection Guide to choose classes you would like to take in the future.

• You will fill out your Four-Year Plan in HR on Tue.• Choose classes which will help you prepare for a

future career.• Remember – your plan will probably change as

you discover new interests! It’s flexible!

Useful Tip

• As you work on your plan, also make a list of all of your extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, etc.), community service activities, employment history and awards/honors. You will need this information to make a résumé for letters of recommendation for scholarships.

• Some courses have duplicate numbers. Please make sure you write the appropriate course name on your registration card.

• For example – Algebra II with Trig and Honors Algebra II with Trig both have the same course number (210017).

• Another example – Yearbook, T-4, SCA, Teacher Helper and Creative Writing have the same number (802209).

Changes for 2015-2016

Academic Dual Classes

• Must be 11th or 12th grade, have overall “B” average in high school core courses

• It takes 2 college classes to equal 1 high school credit. Example – must take ENG 101 and 102 to equal English 12. All Dual Classes are off campus and you must commit to both fall and spring semesters.

• High school class is weighted at 1.04. College class is not weighted.

Academic Dual Classes

• You must provide your own transportation.• On your schedule, it will show up as 1st or 4th

block. That may not be the actual time you are in your class. No dual classes will be taught at Athens High.

• You are responsible for the cost of all tuition and books.

• Dual Psychology, Sociology and Public Speaking are worth ½ of a high school credit.

Dual Career Tech Classes

• More information will be provided after registration. Gwen Baker will be at the Parent Invite Night on Tuesday to answer questions.

• Students must provide their own transportation.• Tuition assistance will be available for most career

tech classes as grant funds become available. No grant money is available for Cosmetology.

• We will work with you individually. Make sure you put your cell number on your registration card, please.

Helpful Tips

• Make sure you meet the prerequisite requirements for all the classes you choose.

• Make sure you obtain teacher signatures and choose your classes wisely. Know what is involved with Dual and AP classes. Talk to your teachers! There is a contract you must sign for Dual and/or AP classes and turn in with your registration card.

• Remember that you must do summer and fall reading and assignments for advanced English classes! Dual does not have summer reading.

Seniors Only – “Senior Choice” Must Be YourTop Elective - 400031

• May be Co-op – 140 paid hours of employment• May be Work Experience – 140 hours of non-paid apprenticeship• May be Service Learning – 140 hours of service hours with an agency• May be Dual Classes – use dual class number instead of 400031 in this

situation• May be Senior Project – select area of interest, proposal, research,

presentation (Could also be Health Internship, Capstone Project in Engineering, Education Internship)

Healthcare Program

• First Class – Foundations of Health Science• Seniors who would like to take Internship

must have already taken Foundations class plus have Chemistry and Anatomy on their transcript before the end of the senior year. They will take Internship for 2 blocks, both semesters.

• Medical Terminology – great, but not required.

Seniors 2016 Only

• All of you will be taking the ACT Test with Writing on April 28, 2015.

• Mrs. Russell will give you details of the test and study aids available.

• The course numbers for your classes at Tech School are listed on pages 26-30 in the online Course Selection Guide. They are not listed in the back of the book.

• Remember to list your Tech School class on your card twice because you go there all year.

Helpful Tips

• Jrs. And Srs. – If you would like to be considered for “Office Assistant” or “Eagle Tech” or “Teacher Helper,”please sign the list in the College and Career Room or in the Attendance Office. You need to have a good attendance and discipline record.

• Please include your cell phone on your card so we can contact you if we have questions about your requests. You may write notes to us on the back of your card (ex – Credit Recovery).

Good Luck!

• Please remember to turn your completed materials in during homeroom on Thursday. It is important that you turn your materials in on time.

• Registration Card/Four-Year Plan (Make sure you and your parent sign both sides of your card!)

Transfer students who did not attend Athens High School during the 1st Semester will report to the cafeteria.

Teachers should release 9-week classes fifteen minutes into time slot.
