BIOGRAPHIESJAY LENO began his comedy career while in college,
and by 1987 he was guest hosting The Tonight Show Starring
Johnny Carson. When Carson retired in 1992, Leno took the
reins, kicking off more than two decades of top-rated late-
night television. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno clinched
an Emmy for “Outstanding Comedy, Variety or Music
Series” and Leno received a People’s Choice Award, a star
on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and an induction into the
Television Hall of Fame. The John F. Kennedy Center for
the Performing Arts recently announced that the comedian
will receive the 17th annual Mark Twain Prize for American
Humor. The prestigious award recognizes people who have
had an impact on American society and is considered the
nation’s top recognition for humor and satire.
Known as one of the hardest working entertainers in
the industry, Leno has entertained U.S. military troops in
Bosnia and Italy and appears regularly in Las Vegas.
Leno’s “everyman” style and personality have helped
the comic score millions of fans worldwide. Leno has also
done voice-overs for Nickelodeon’s The Fairly Oddparents and
the films Cars, Igor, and Ice Age: The Meltdown. His Emmy-
winning Internet series Jay Leno’s Garage has amassed a
strong international following. Leno’s 2004 children’s book
If Roast Beef Could Fly made The New York Times bestseller
list. His follow-up book, How to Be the Funniest Kid in Your
Class, was also a hit. Leno’s other books include his auto-
biography, Leading With My Chin, and Headlines, a popular
compilation of funny newspaper headlines.
An ardent supporter of the Special Olympics, Leno
also leads the annual Love Ride in California, which ben-
efits humanitarian organizations serving people with autism
and muscular dystrophy. He and his wife, Mavis, were
nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on the
Gender Apartheid campaign, a joint effort with the Femi-
nist Majority to free Afghan women of Taliban tyranny.
Opening for Leno is Los Angeles-based STREET
CORNER RENAISSANCE (SCR). The ensemble’s
unique a capella Doo-Wop sound has propelled its singles
– from the most recent recording project, Life Could Be a
Dream – up the Billboard charts. By intertwining social and
cultural awareness themes into its repertoire, along with
Doo-Wop and classic Soul songs, SCR transcends categori-
zation, enthralling audiences with its smooth and creative
harmonies. The group’s debut recording, Meet Me on the
Corner, wowed critics and led to an appearance at the pres-
tigious Jazz at Drew Festival, where SCR became the first a
cappella group to perform at the annual event.
The group has opened for Chuck Berry, The Tempta-
tions, Boyz II Men, Kool & the Gang, and Deniece Williams.
SCR also appeared on the NBC hit show The Sing Off. n

BIOGRAPHYFormed in 1968, English Rock group Led Zeppelin
earned international recognition with a series of successful
albums, including Led Zeppelin, Houses of the Holy, and
Physical Graffiti. The 1971 song Stairway to Heaven is widely
considered among the most popular and influential works
in Rock music. Rolling Stone called the 1995 Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame-inducted group “one of the most enduring
bands in rock history.”
In a high-energy salute to its favorite band, the
Philadelphia-based GET THE LED OUT performs Led
Zeppelin’s songs – such as Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog,
and Stairway to Heaven – “note for note, the way it was
recorded,” raves Philadelphia Magazine. The Philadelphia
Inquirer said, “Older fans could be heard bragging that they
saw Zeppelin back in the day and that Get the Led Out is
better. That might seem hard to believe until you witness
the might and versatility of the players.”
Dubbed by the media as THE AMERICAN LED
ZEPPELIN, Get The Led Out offers a strong focus on Led
Zeppelin’s early years. The band is not content to just play
an approximation of Led Zeppelin. It strives to re-create
every minute detail, even performing songs that were
seldom heard in concert. According to Get the Led Out, its
show is “not an impersonator act. It’s all about the music!
A Get the Led Out concert experience is designed for those
that want to play air guitar, air drums, air keyboards, and
sing along all night to the greatest rock music ever made!”
Get the Led Out also includes a special acoustic set with
Led Zeppelin favorites such as Tangerine and the Battle of
Evermore being performed in their original instrumentation.
Get the Led Out consists of lead vocalist-harmonica
player Paul Sinclair, guitarist and mandolin player Paul
Hammond, guitarist-singer Jimmy Marchiano, bass guitarist-
vocalist Billy Childs, drummer-percussionist Adam Ferraioli,
keyboardist-guitarist-percussionist Andrew Lipke, and
songstress Diana DeSantis. n

BIOGRAPHYIn this Cerritos appearance, SHA NA NA SINGS
THE SONGS FROM THE HIT MOVIE GREASE,
the group performs tunes such as Rock ‘n’ Roll Is Here to
Stay, Those Magic Changes, Hound Dog, Born to Hand Jive,
Hopelessly Devoted, Greased Lightning, and Blue Moon. Sha
Na Na appeared in the popular film as the high school
band Johnny Casino and the Gamblers. The iconic ballad
Sandy, sung by John Travolta in the movie, was co-written
by Sha Na Na’s piano man, Screamin’ Scott Simon. The
Grease soundtrack was a major hit, garnering a Grammy
nomination and Platinum certification eight times.
Composed of undergraduate members of a glee club
ensemble at New York’s Columbia University, Sha Na
Na began performing in 1969 and was “the only doo-wop
reincarnation on the rock ’n’ roll-dominated scene,” hailed
The New York Times. Known for its a cappella versions of ’50s
Rock songs, Sha Na Na scored national fame after playing
at the Woodstock Festival, where the group preceded master
musician Jimi Hendrix. The brief appearance cemented
the band’s reputation and style in American music history,
leading to a record deal and paving the road for 18 albums
grossing worldwide sales of more than 20 million copies.
From 1977 to 1982, the group enjoyed its own hit
syndicated television show, Sha Na Na, which featured
special guests such as James Brown, the legendary Punk
Rock band the Ramones, and musicians Chuck Berry, Little
Richard, Bo Diddley, The Ronettes, and Chubby Checker.
The highly popular program featured Sha Na Na’s music
and comedy skits that paired the band with special guests.
Over the course of its career, Sha Na Na has amassed
a large international following with appearances in Africa,
Europe, and Japan. n

BIOGRAPHIESFive-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter
and 2012 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee
MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER embarks on a unique
series of intimate acoustic performances. The tour marks
Carpenter’s return to singing both timeless hits and deep
cuts from her expansive and beloved 13-album catalog after
performing with orchestras in early 2014.
Carpenter has spent the past year performing
alongside world-renowned orchestras since the release of her
debut orchestral album, Songs From the Movie, which was
conducted and arranged by six-time Grammy winner Vince
Mendoza. Carpenter’s world debut orchestral concert took
place on January 24, 2014 at the Glasgow Royal Concert
Hall alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
In March, she performed two milestone concerts at New
York’s Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic,
conducted by Mendoza, and was joined by special guests
Joan Baez, Shawn Colvin, Jerry Douglas, Tift Merritt, and
Aoife O’Donovan.
Over the course of her career, Carpenter has sold more
than 13 million records. With hits like Passionate Kisses and
He Thinks He’ll Keep Her, she has won five Grammys (with
15 nominations), two Country Music Association awards,
and two Academy of Country Music awards for her vocals.
Special guest TIFT MERRITT will also perform.
The Alt-Country chanteuse is “a thoughtful, soulful singer-
songwriter in the country-rock mode,” raves The New
Yorker. The North Carolina-bred singer-songwriter “seems
incapable of writing a formulaic or unfelt song,” heralds the
Washington Post.
Merritt’s critically acclaimed 2002 debut, Bramble
Rose, made the Top 10 lists for Time magazine and The
New Yorker. It was followed by Tambourine, which earned a
Grammy nomination for “Best Country Album.” Merritt’s
other albums include Another Country, Traveling Alone, and
the live records Home Is Loud and Buckingham Solo. n

BIOGRAPHYCalled a “superstar Brazilian keyboardist and
bandleader and longtime ambassador of Bossa Nova” by the
Boston Globe, Grammy winner SERGIO MENDES shot
into mainstream prominence with the Oscar-nominated
tune The Look of Love, his version of Scarborough Fair, and
the all-time favorite love ballad Never Gonna Let You Go.
The Brazilian powerhouse studied music at the local
conservatory as a boy, hoping to become a Classical pianist.
He got caught up in the 1950s Bossa Nova craze that swept
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, eventually emerging as one of the
genre’s pioneers. By the 1960s, Mendes and his band Brasil
’66 had mesmerized Americans with their own twist on
Samba-based rhythms.
L.A. Weekly praised Mendes’s tunes Mas Que Nada
and The Look of Love, describing them as “classic calling
cards” spiced up with an exotic and edgy energy. The
exciting recipe allowed Mendes and the band to merge
old customs with a new beat – “the best of both worlds,”
declared the magazine. The Pop-inflected formula sparked
worldwide exhilaration and acclaim. The New York Post
hailed: “With his musical curiosity and willingness to try
new things from Bossa Nova to Hip-Hop,” Mendes “has
been able to reach a younger generation with his music” and
“stays true to his musical formula.”
Mendes’s ability to transcend continental boundaries
and age groups has boosted his status in the universal music
market, making him arguably one of the biggest and best-
selling Brazilian performers in the world. His international
appeal generates sold-out tours in venues as varied as
stadium arenas to the White House, where he performed for
Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon. “Mendes
can always be counted on to deliver an engaging set,” said
the Los Angeles Times.
The pianist’s list of accomplishments is long and his
honors are varied. Mendes garnered a “Best World Music
Album” Grammy for Brasileiro, a showcase of Brazil’s Folk
and urban tunes that All Music Guide called “a genuine,
back-to-Brazil tour de force.” His Timeless album, Mendes’s
first collaboration with The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am,
featured traditional Jazz standards that were re-invigorated
as Hip-Hop and neo-Soul songs. Rolling Stone praised
its “beautiful, boundary-breaking music.” Mendes won
a Latin Grammy for his album Bom Tempo and a “Best
Original Song” Oscar nomination for Real in Rio from
the animated hit movie Rio. His latest album, Magic,
features collaborations with John Legend, will.i.am, Soul-
R&B singer Janelle Monae, and Brazilian talents Milton
Nascimento and Carlinhos Brown. n

BIOGRAPHYPETER CETERA brought the iconic Soft Rock group
Chicago to the top of music charts with the Grammy-winning
song If You Leave Me Now and Stay the Night before launching
a successful solo career. People magazine noted, “His high,
distinctive voice … helped define Chicago’s sound.”
The longtime front man for Chicago, Cetera
contributed to the band’s biggest songs, including You’re
the Inspiration; Hard to Say I’m Sorry; Hard Habit to Break;
and Baby, What a Big Surprise. After 18 years with the
group, Cetera left Chicago and embarked on a solo career
with the ballad Glory of Love, the theme song for the
blockbuster movie The Karate Kid II. The tune earned him
Oscar, Golden Globe, and Grammy nominations. It was
singled out by BMI Film & TV and the American Society
of Composers, Authors and Publishers for being the most
performed song from motion pictures.
Cetera’s chart-busting momentum continued with
the Grammy-nominated The Next Time I Fall, a No. One
duet with Gospel crooner Amy Grant. After All, a Top 10
corroboration with Cher, was featured on the soundtrack of
the movie Chances Are. Other films featuring Cetera’s songs
include Three Men and a Baby, Princess From the Moon, and
Pretty Woman.
Cetera’s many other hits include Even a Fool Can See;
One Good Woman; the No. One song Restless Heart; and
Feels Like Heaven, a duet with Chaka Khan. n

JOSH TURNER– ROUGHSTOCK AND RAMBLER TOUR
With Opening Guest
THE BRODIE STEWART BAND
Friday, October 31, 2014, 8:00 PM
This performance will not include an intermission. The taking of photographs or use of recording devices is strictly prohibited.
BIOGRAPHIESCountry star JOSH TURNER became one of
the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2007,
charming fans with Long Black Train, the Grammy-
nominated Would You Go With Me, and the No. One singles
Your Man, Why Don’t We Just Dance, and All Over Me.
Boasting numerous Grammy nods and award
nominations from the Country Music Association and the
Academy of Country Music, the double-Platinum-selling
singer has sold more than 5 million albums. Josh Turner is
“one of the new millennium’s brightest country successes,”
hails the Los Angeles Times.
Turner’s Punching Bag, featuring the hit single Time
Is Love, catapulted to the Billboard Country Albums Chart.
The Associated Press declared, “With Punching Bag, Turner
once again proves he ranks among the most effective – and
most hard-core country – performers of his generation.”
Opening the concert is the BRODIE STEWART
BAND, known in the Country music circuit for its high-
octane performances. “These guys mix it up with a slightly
harder rock edge, but they haven’t forgotten the topics of
country music,” says Sacramento’s News and Review.
Stewart’s Southern Rock roots and catchy music
have paved the way for numerous collaborations with the
industry’s biggest names, including Enrique Iglesias, Jason
Aldean, Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban. n

BIOGRAPHYIt’s rare for a young musician to earn comparisons to
the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis. It’s even harder
to find an artist who has entirely redefined an instrument
by his early 30s. But when a jaw-dropping YouTube clip of
JAKE SHIMABUKURO’S performance of While My Gui-
tar Gently Weeps went viral, the ukulele sensation’s career
skyrocketed, leading to collaborations with Bette Midler,
Yo-Yo Ma, Ziggy Marley, and Chris Botti.
The New York Times noted the ukulele sensation for
his “buoyant musicianship” and “brisk proficiency,” and Roll-
ing Stone called him a musical “hero.” Shimabukuro’s album
Peace Love Ukulele, an acclaimed showcase of Jazz, Rock,
Classical, Folk, and traditional Hawaiian music, topped the
Billboard World Album Chart. On his new album, Grand
Ukulele, Shimabukuro collaborated with legendary producer/
engineer Alan Parsons, best known for his work on Pink
Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and The Beatles’ Abbey Road.
Since age 4, Shimabukuro has been playing the uku-
lele and in his hands, the instrument becomes a bold musi-
cal force. The New York Times hailed, “The innovation in
his style stems from an embrace of restrictions: The ukulele
has only four strings and a limited range. He compensates
with an adaptable combination of rhythmic strumming,
classical-style finger-picking and fret board tapping.” Rolling
Stone concurred, saying, “One of the hottest axmen of the
past few years doesn’t actually play guitar.”
The musician has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!,
The Late Show With Conan O’Brien, The Today Show, and
Last Call With Carson Daly. He had a cameo in the Adam
Sandler hit movie Just Go With It. n

THE NEW CHRISTY MINSTRELS STILL UNDER THE DIRECTION
OF RANDY SPARKS WITH SPECIAL ADDED ATTRACTION
BARRY MCGUIRE
Sunday, November 2, 2014, 3:00 PM
There will be one 20-minute intermission. The taking of photographs or use of recording devices is strictly prohibited.
BIOGRAPHIESTHE NEW CHRISTY MINSTRELS redefined
the Pop and Folk genres with hits such as Denver, Today,
Saturday Night, and the Oscar-winning song Chim Chim
Cher-ee from the movie Mary Poppins.
Still under the direction of Randy Sparks, the
Grammy-winning group has been hailed for its rich and
robust vocal blend. The group’s debut album Presenting The
New Christy Minstrels: Exciting New Folk Chorus, which
featured an upbeat version of This Land Is Your Land, was
a mainstay on the Billboard music charts for two years and
won a “Best Performance by a Chorus” Grammy. The honor
paved the way for the ensemble’s regular appearances on
The Andy Williams Show, further gaining the group fans and
exposure. The group’s Merry Christmas and Today albums
soared to the Top 10.
The New Christy Minstrels’ In Person and Ramblin’
albums boosted the band’s standing in the music industry.
All Music Guide called Ramblin’ the group’s “artistic high-
water mark. Their arrangements were never more stirring
and their singing never lustier.” The album featured the
hit Green, Green, which remains one of the most popular
original songs to come out of the early 1960s Folk music
boom. The tune was sung by special guest and Gospel-Folk
musician BARRY MCGUIRE, an original member of The
New Christy Minstrel’s performing lineup. McGuire co-
wrote the song with Sparks.
McGuire is best known for the No. One Folk-Rock hit
Eve of Destruction, which the Los Angeles Times called “the
granddaddy of ’60s protest songs.” The Gold-certified single
turned the singer-songwriter into a cultural icon. McGuire
later became a pioneer of contemporary Christian music.
This Cerritos appearance is McGuire’s second-to-final
performance before he enters retirement. He says, “I got my
start with The NCM, and I’m honored to be going out the
same way.” n
