weston parka history of making visitors feel at home

In 1964 Gerald, 6th Earl of Bradford opened Weston to the public and this year we celebrate 50 years of welcoming visitors to this magnificent 17th century house. Set in 1,000 acres of beautiful parkland, Weston is so much more than just a stately home. You’ll find the same warmth and friendliness that has welcomed visitors for over 300 years, and a perfect mix of past and present that guarantees fantastic days out for our visitors.

An historic house with so many fascinating stories to tell. Immerse yourself in Weston’s amazing and colourful history. Admire the breathtaking collection of internationally acclaimed paintings, tapestries and furniture. Discover works by Van Dyck, Lely, Gainsborough, rare Gobelin tapestries and furniture by

royal makers Morel & Hughes. Weston is truly a rare experience for connoisseurs and non-experts alike.

Weston: a family’s historyWeston was the home of the Bridgemans, Earls of Bradford and their ancestors. At every corner the house echoes with different eras that together create a rich history that dates back to the Domesday Book.

From the building of the present House in the 17th century, to the landscaping of the park and gardens by Capability Brown, through to hosting the G8 Summit of 1998, the story of Weston has something to interest everyone.

Weston is now owned and maintained by the Weston Park Foundation, an independent charitable trust.

Take a ‘Behind the scenes’ tour* for a glimpse of parts of the House normally off-limits to the public. Discover how the house ran in Victorian times when the 3rd Earl threw lavish house parties.*Selected Sundays

This is how all stately homes should be...grand, but really friendly, with loads of great things to do.

It’s all about learning and discovery, and Weston’s safe, natural landscape is perfect for kids to go exploring along trails through the park, hunting for secrets hidden in the woodlands, enjoying sensory walks and scavenger hunts, and discovering Weston’s wildlife.
