How to Become a Page for the Washington State Senate

The Washington State Legislature has one of the most comprehensive page pro-grams in the United States. Hundreds of students throughout Washington State have an opportunity each year to take part in the legislative process. To serve as a page, a student must meet several requirements including:

• grade point average of C+ or better;

• be at least 14 years of age and have not reached 17th birthday;

• parent/guardian permission;

• principal/teacher permission;

• Social Security Number (must be obtained before paging appointment)A page’s work schedule generally goes from Sunday through Friday. The work-day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. with 2 hours each day scheduled for page school where they learn about the legislative process. Qualified Page host home listings are available to pages and their families for consideration .The uniform is a white blouse or shirt and black slacks or dress pants.The Senate furnishes the pages with a jacket.
