Brenita Williams Jackson is in her second season as head coach of the San Jacinto College women’s basketball program. After spending a year at Cisco College in Cisco, Texas, and four seasons (two as head coach, two as an assistant coach) at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas, Jackson found her way to San Jac.

During her first season, San Jac went 3-27. Jackson was proud of how her team battled through setbacks and obstacles. Freshman guard Kendra Howard had a standout season, being selected to play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Star game. She is the first San Jacinto College player in the six-year history of the all-star game to be selected. She was also named to the All-Region XIV and All-Conference teams, and was a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American. Jackson’s players also served as ambassadors to the College, participating in volunteer efforts such as visiting patients at Texas Children’s Hospital and serving at the Houston Food Bank.

Prior to San Jacinto College, Jackson spent a year at Cisco College where she helped improve the team grade point average in just her first semester, and saw all of her student-athletes graduate. One of Jackson’s players was named to the all-conference second team.

As head coach at Lon Morris College, Jackson guided the Bearcats to the Region XIV semifinals in 2012. That squad had four all-conference players, including the Region XIV Freshman of the Year, and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American. Jackson’s 2011-2012 team had two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-Americans.

In 2011, the Jacksonville Progress named Jackson its Sports Woman of the Year. That season, she coached the Bearcats to the Region XIV Championship runner-up title. Three players earned All-Conference recognition, with one being named a NJCAA All-American. Jackson’s 2010-2011 team also had a NJCAA academic all-American, and was ranked fifth in the nation by the WBCA for a team GPA of 3.2. Under her tutelage, the Lon Morris women’s basketball program boasted a 100 percent sophomore graduation rate. Jackson holds the Lon Morris record for the best winning percentage after winning 37 games in two seasons. Eight of her players went on to play at the next level, including three to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I schools.

As an assistant coach at Lon Morris for two seasons, Jackson helped the team advance to two consecutive regional tournaments, and coached six All-Conference players.

Jackson owns an overall collegiate coaching record of 46-78, and has also coached the Dallas Diesel Club and the Aabyhoj Club.

Jackson prepped at Cedar Hill High School and was a starter on the varsity squad that reached the regional semifinals. She was recruited to play at Lon Morris, where she led her team to the Region XIV conference championship runner-up and the best

single-season record in Lon Morris College history. She was voted to the All-Conference and All-Academic teams, and was the first women’s basketball player at Lon Morris to ink an NCAA Division I scholarship.

While at Southeastern, Jackson helped the team reach the Southland Conference tournament in each of her two years, and led the squad to become the East Division Conference Champions in 2007 for the first time in school history. She was named All-Conference, All-Louisiana, All-Academic, and earned player of the week honors. She went on to play professionally in Aarhus, Denmark, where she also coached a junior club team to an undefeated season and three tournament championships. Her coaching career began in 2008 with the Dallas Diesel Junior Club.

Jackson holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., and a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. She was married in December 2012 to Kevin Jackson.

Kevin Jackson is entering his second season with San Jacinto College as a volunteer assistant coach. He is also the Rec Sports Director for North Campus and serves as an adjunct professor in the physical education department.

In his role as volunteer assistant coach, Coach Jackson will assist in recruiting, court coaching, film exchange, and scouting. He is in charge of guard development and the strength and conditioning program. Coach Jackson is the defensive coordinator for the program and brings a wealth of creativity and energy to the team. In his first season at San Jacinto College, Coach Jackson coached and developed Kendra Howard who was All-Region, the program’s second WBCA All-American, and the program’s first NJCAA All Star. He helped build relationships on campus and within the surrounding community.

Coach Jackson spent a year at Cisco College as an assistant coach. During his time there, he helped improve the overall team GPA to above a 3.0 and marked the program’s best graduation rate of all sophomores at 100 percent in just one year. He also helped develop a second-team All-Conference player.

Prior to Cisco, he spent two seasons at Lon Morris College where he helped propel the program to a Region XIV Championship runner-up

title in 2011. In his first recruiting season, Jackson recruited two All-Conference players, one NJCAA All-Star, and the school’s first Region XIV Freshman of the Year. Coach Jackson assisted with starting the school’s first mentor program at Lon Morris College, and also began a fundraising campaign that featured several community outreach initiatives.  He was the guest speaker of the annual awards banquet, which was a sold out event, and was a co-director of the summer basketball camps.

Jackson played basketball at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, La., where he played the point guard position. He was a four year varsity letter winner and helped his team to the several winning seasons and post-season play. He was also a dual athlete in football gaining countless awards and recognition for the school’s program. Jackson pursued his college career in football at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., then transferred and finished at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., in which he excelled as a defensive back, and was an All-Conference Honorable Mention in the Southland Conference.

Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Master’s of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University. In December 2012, he married Brenita Williams.
