Game Environment Statement
The NCAA, GLIAC, its member institu-
tions and our student-athletes support
good sportsmanship.
We see our athletic venues as
extensions of the classroom
environment where, among other
lessons, we teach and learn about the
importance of dignity and
respect for others.
Your presence at this competition is
valued by the student-athletes, coaches
and administration. It is important that
all participants, including spectators and
officials, have a great experience while
attending our athletic events.
Our student-athletes ask for
enthusiastic support for your respective
team. Cheering and encouraging good
performance and effort are what they
expect to see.
Therefore, we ask that you refrain from
using derogatory or abusive language
actions or gestures toward student-ath-
letes, coaches, officials and fans as you
cheer on your team. Failure to behave
in a respectful manner may result in
removal from the event.
With your help, we can make this an
event everyone can enjoy.
Thank you.

2013 season previewThe 2012 season said goodbye to five seniors, including three all-conference performers in Jennifer Holton, Shara Perry and Megan Wharton. Fifth year head coach Jonathan Meade will now count on a blend of upperclassmen and a promising cast of incoming freshmen to keep the program at a high level.
Holton was a Second Team All-Conference selection, and was also named to the 2012 Division II/NAIA/NCCAA All-Ohio First Team. She was selected to the NSCAA 2012 Division II Womens All-Midwest Re-gion Second Team and was chosen to the GLIAC All-Academic Team. She played in all 19 games, while starting 18. She tied for second on the team with six goals.
Perry was also named to the 2012 Division II/NAIA/NCAA All-Ohio Team, grabbing first team honors. She picked up her second Capital One Academic All-American honor while also being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) 2012 Women’s College Division Scholar East Region Honorable Mention Team. Perry was named to both the GLIAC’s All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic Excellence Team. Perry started in all 19 games in the Panther backfield where she recorded one goal and two assists. In the postseason, Perry was awarded the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award. She helped the Panthers post 11 shutouts last season, in which they only allowed 14 goals.
Wharton joined Perry on the Division II/NAIA/NCAA All-Ohio Second Team and was also selected to the GLIAC’s Honorable Mention Team.
ODU also lost Jessica D’Isidoro and Tasha Hoffmannbeck. D’Isidoro competed in 18 games with 17 starts where she recorded one assist. Hoffmannbeck was sidelined most of the season due to injury.
“Our 2012 senior class played a major role in our production over the past four years both offensively and defensively,” said Meade. “They will be missed for sure but I don’t see the void as something we need to replace. Instead I see it as an opportunity for new players to give us a new flair, twist or take on those positions that need to be filled. We are grateful to those that paid the price before us and now it is time for new players to pick up the responsibility and keep us moving forward.”
SeniorsThe 2013 squad will have just two seniors returning to the field in Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio), and Christen Adams (Syl-vania, Ohio).
Augusta was selected to the GLIAC All-Academic team in 2012 and played in all 19 games for the Panthers with 17 starts. For the season, she recorded three goals and four assists at the forward position.
Adams, a 2012 selection to the GLIAC All-Academic team, saw action in 16 games with five starts. She recorded six shots with one coming on goal.
“I expect a lot out of our 2013 class. They have experienced the highs and lows of this program and their individual journeys over the past three seasons, and have grown and matured into teammates we depend on. They all realize what is expected and I am confident they are ready to lead the way.”
Juniors The junior class returns eight to the program from the 2012 season including two All-GLIAC performers in Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) and Jordan Mazzi (Galena, Ohio).
Clark, a Division II/NAIA/NCCAA All-Ohio First Team selection and All-GLIAC Second Team selection, started in all 19 games in goal where she posted a 10-6-3 record. She recorded 104 saves on the season while only allowing 14 goals, granting her a .881 save percentage. With her 11 shutouts on the season, she moved into the number one spot in the all-time Panther record books.
Mazzi, a first team Division II/NAIA/NCCAA All-Ohio selection, ap-peared in 18 games with nine starts for ODU. She was also named to the GLIAC All-Academic team and GLIAC All-Conference Second Team. Last season, she scored six goals and was tied for second-best point getter.
Broegan Sautter (Bellville, Ohio) was selected to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team during the off season. During the season, Broegan competed in 14 games with 11 starts. She scored one goal and had one assist.
Joining Sautter is Emily Spencer (Gibsonia, Pa.). Spencer started and played in nine games with the Panthers. In those nine games, she scored three goals and had one assist. She was also selected to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team.
Missing part of the season due to injury was Kristyn Kajganich (North Royalton, Ohio). She will be expected to see a lot of playing time this season. Last year, she played in 11 games with five starts, taking 10 shots, four of which were on goal.
Jordan Ashby (Zanesville, Ohio) and Kinsey Propst (Colum-bus, Ohio) will also be returning and will be expected to compete for playing time.
Sophomores GLIAC Freshman of the Year Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) started 17 of the 19 contests. She was the team’s frontrunner in goals with eight, four of which were game winners. She led all freshmen in the conference in goals scored. In the postseason, Pratt was selected to the NSCAA 2012 NCAA Division II Women All-Midwest Region Third Team and the 2012 Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, Ohio) joins Pratt after competing in 16 games with seven starts. She recorded one goal, four assists, and earned six points in her freshman campaign as a Panther.
Sydney Simpson (Avon, Ohio) also saw quality time last year in the Panther backfield. She had 16 starts in the Panther’s 19 games where she had eight shots, five of which were on goal.

Summer Bourcier (Mansfield, Ohio) competed in 15 games for the Black and Gold with four starts. She totaled one assist while taking six shots, of which two were on goal. Sidelined due to injury earlier in the season, Kelsey Baird (Maineville, Ohio) played in 10 games with six starts in the latter half of the season.
Also returning to the field are Jessica Gross (Dayton, Ohio), Feli-cia Cuthbert (Marysville, Ohio) and Regina Smith (Columbus, Ohio).
Class of 2013In perhaps one of Coach Meade’s largest recruiting classes, the Panther family welcomes 10 freshmen to the 2013 team. All 10 girls are from the state of Ohio with four having been selected to an All-Ohio team.
Representing Northeast, Ohio are Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio), Emily Felton (Medina, Ohio), and Courtney Kozak (Millers-burg, Ohio). Johnson was named to the All-Ohio Second Team during the 2012 season. Academically, Johnson was a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 4.3 GPA. Felton led the Medina Bees to a Division I State Championship in 2009 and was the team captain during her senior year. Kozak, a Division II All-Ohio Second Team selection was also decorated with all-conference and district selections throughout her career at Millersburg.
Emily Riviello (Huber Heights, Ohio), Alexa Scardina (Cincin-nati, Ohio), and Kethryn Mattingly (Beavercreek, Ohio) all hail from Southwest, Ohio. Riviello, an All-State Second Team selection, was a four-year letterwinner for the Warriors as was named to the Greater Western Ohio Conference First Team. Scardina, served as the team’s captain during her senior year and was selected to the All-State Honorable Mention team as well as being named as an ECC Scholar Athlete in 2012. Mattingly led the Battling Beavers to a GWOC Central Division title in 2009, 2011, and 2012, where she earned conference first and second team honors in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
The Panthers bring in three players from the Central Ohio area in Emily Church (Hilliard Ohio), Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, Ohio) and Brooke Ringel (Columbus, Ohio). Church hails from Hill-iard Darby, where she was the team captain in 2012 and earned Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) Honorable Mention recognition. Church was also a scholar athlete all four years as well as being on the honor roll. Just across the city at Hilliard Bradley, Fodor was named the OCC all-conference teams for three years while playing for the Jaguars. She was also honored with All-District honors. Ringel was named to the Central Catholic League (CCL) First and Second Teams respectively during her career as a Silver Knight. She was also a two-time All-District selection.
Madison Baldwin (Zanesville, Ohio), the lone athlete from Eastern, Ohio, was tabbed First Team All-Ohio in 2012 and Second Team All-Ohio selection in 2011. She was also named Eastern District I Player-of-the-Year twice. Baldwin was also a member of the National Honor Society at Zanesville High School as well as being a High School All-American.
“I am excited and hopeful that the 2013 freshman class will make a quick transition to the college game and have a big impact on our success over the next four years. This freshmen class has been outstanding in the classroom and in their play on the field and I know they will be at their best again this year. I am looking forward to coaching and working with them.”
Schedule Ohio Dominican opens the season with five nonconference games, four of which will be on the road. The Panthers will then turn around and host four home games, including a contest with top-ranked Grand Valley. Last year, the Lakers edged the Panthers 2-0. In October, the Black and Gold will start off with five road games and will close out the month with three games on Panther Field. Highlighting the home slate is the contest on Friday, October 18 against Northern Michigan, where the Panthers will host their annual Pink Day, and Sunday, October 20 as the Panthers take on Michigan Tech on senior day. Last year, the Panthers tied 0-0 with the Huskies, who at the time, were ranked first in the GLIAC.

Ohio Dominican University is an accredited four-year liberal arts institution, founded in 1911 in the Catholic and Dominican traditions. The university has more than 3,100 students and offers undergraduate degrees in over 50 majors as well as six graduate degree programs. Ohio Dominican uses a student-centered approach, with a commit-ment to quality teaching and learning and a number of academic programs of distinction.
Academics are at the heart of everything done at Ohio Dominican University. Institutions of higher learning exist to provide education for their students, and that education starts in the classroom. It continues, of course, on athletic fields and in residence halls, in re-hearsals and clubs, in the library and the lab, but it begins with the relationship between students and their instructors.
ODU’s mission is grounded in our identity as a Catholic and Dominican liberal arts institution. The University’s motto - To contemplate truth and share the fruits of that contemplation with others - serves as our guiding principle of teaching and learning. ODU’s core curriculum, taken by all students, focuses on seven learning outcomes that collectively identify the institution’s expectations for what all students will be able to be and do as Ohio Dominican graduates. Additionally, students complete a sequence of courses in one of 50 undergraduate major areas of study including those in the arts, sciences, and professions.
Led by a talented faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and committed to helping students learn, ODU’s student engagement model focuses on serving the whole student through personal attention and assistance in collaboration with the institution’s Divi-sion of Student Development. Ohio Dominican is fully accredited and offers academic programs at the baccalaureate and masters degree levels through five divisions: Arts and Letters; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Mathematics, Computer and Natural Sciences; Business; and Education.
The University is significantly expanding the level of on-campus student extracurricular activities and improving residential life. At the same time, Ohio Dominican has expanded its extracurricular offerings, providing a greater number of on-campus activities for both
residential and commuter students. A central focus has been the addition of a new Student Center and expansion of athletic programs, which attract student athletes and nonathletes alike, and foster alumni participation.
Student organizations and activities at ODU offer events and activities that relate to areas of academic interest, student government, artistic performance, multicultural identity, media, athletic, social, honorary, religious and service organizations. Ohio Dominican student activities and events are open to all students.
Over the past 10 years, Ohio Dominican has followed an aggressive expansion plan for its facilities which include three new residence halls; additional sports and recreation facilities; development of Sunbury Road as a gateway to the campus; the new Bishop James A Griffi n Student Center and a new science facility, Battelle Hall.
The 2010 - 2011 academic year will be a special time for the institution as its students, faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders and friends celebrate the University’s Centen-nial anniversary. Although the University will mark its Centennial birthday on October 5, 2011 (Founder’s Day), the calendar of events will commence in October 2010 and will continue through June 2012.
The Centennial theme, A Century of Transforming Lives, reflects ODU’s Dominican heritage, history and tradition. This celebration encourages the University community to reflect upon the transformative effect that Ohio Dominican has had on the lives its faculty, students, alumni, staff and friends.
Ohio Dominican is focused on becoming the preeminent Catholic institution of higher learning, providing quality programs in both the liberal arts and the professions, com-mitted to the fundamental value of liberal education, and deeply rooted in its Dominican tradition. Ohio Dominican is known for its student-centered and innovative approaches to teaching and learning; its commitment to excellence in academic and co-curricular programs; its commitment to service and community responsibility; its outstanding campus facilities and resources; its global outreach in response to educational needs; and its reputation for distinction in values-based higher education.

Panther Field Football, Men’s and Women’s Soccer
Ohio Dominican University continues to demonstrate progressive improvement to its athletic facilities with the addition of Panther Field. Built in 2004, our newest athletic facility is home to our football team and men’s and women’s soccer teams as well as our club level lacrosse team. To withstand the wear and tear of constant use, Panther Field is equipped with the latest in artificial surfaces, SprinTurf®. The field has a seating capacity of 1,750 with a 42-foot press box located at the top of the home bleachers. Recent additions to Panther Field include bleachers on the guest side of the field with a capacity of 500 and a building that houses a ticket office, concession stand and restrooms. Lights were also recently added to the facility, an addition that makes Panther Field one of the finer facilities of its size in the Midwest. The new facility replaced ODU’s former natural grass soccer complex and is located next to Alumni Hall on the west side of campus.
Alumni Hall Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball
Opened in 1989, Alumni Hall has a seating capacity of 3,000 and is the home of the women’s volleyball and the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Alumni Hall was given a much needed renovation and expansion in 2009-10. One full-length bas-ketball court was added, the hardwood was resurfaced, and bleachers were added to the far side of the court.
After the renovation all of the coaches now have an office on the second floor of Alumni. There are also several rooms that coaches may utilize to review game tape, hold team meetings and meet with future and current Panthers. Some of the other amenities in Alumni Hall are four locker rooms, the Black and Gold Room, a spa-cious conference room, a refurbished weight room that is available to both students and student-athletes, and an athletic training room. Alumni Hall has the capability of accommodating three regulation size basketball and volleyball courts.
Panther Courts Men’s and Women’s Tennis
Also on the grounds of the Ohio Dominican Sports Complex west side location are six regulation size tennis courts complete with lights. The courts were recently re-surfaced with a blue Latex-ite® coating that resembles the courts that host the U.S. Open Championship. The tennis courts are enclosed with a green chain link fence to accommodate the Panther men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Panther Valley/Frank Damian FielD Baseball
First time visitors are pleasantly surprised by the hidden beauty of Panther Valley as they descend upon ODU’s prized baseball diamond. Sunken well below street-level and masked by plentiful trees, the only evidence of what awaits below is the echoing “ping” of aluminum bats meeting baseballs. The field is complete with a batting cage, home bullpen beyond the left field line and a visitor bullpen along the right field line. A recent addition to Panther Valley is a state-of-the-art scoreboard complete graphics and animatronics. Panther Valley has developed year-by-year to the point that it is now considered one of the finest college baseball facilities in the country.
Panther Softball Field
Over the years Panther Softball Field has evolved into one of the nicest facilities in the state of Ohio. The brick dust field is routinely praised by Panther opponents as the epitome of what a field should be. With its dimensions of 210 to the corners and 225 to straight away center, this softball complex features enclosed dugouts, a scoreboard, bullpens beyond the left field line, and an underground irrigation system.
Hitting Facility
Located next to the softball field is the hitting facility for both the baseball and soft-ball teams. The hitting facility provides a place for both teams to refine their skills through the harsh Central Ohio weather. With the retractable nets, the hitting facility contains three batting cages complete with pitching mounds and pitching machines.
Panther Training Facility
Along with the addition of the new stadium in 2004, the Panthers added a 7,500 square foot training facility west of the main parking lot. The facility is equipped with the latest in hammer strength weight training equipment and ODU’s second athletic training room. Offices for athletic training personal are also located in the new facility.
Cumberland Trail Golf Club
The Panthers are fortunate to call Cumberland Trail Golf Club their home. The course, designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, opened in 1999 and measures up to 7,205 yards from the back tees. Known for its excellent conditioning and difficult design, Cumberland Trail ranks fourth in Central Ohio among public golf courses, according to Mid Ohio Golfer, and received 3.5 stars from Golf Digest. The greens at Cumberland Trail are considered by many to be the finest in the Columbus area and challenge even the best putters. The ODU golf team has unlimited access to the facility which includes a driving range and large practice green.
Golf Practice Facilities
ODU golfers have the ability to practice year round at one of two practice facilities. Bridgeview Driving Range, located just 6 minutes from campus, serves as the out-door practice facility during the Spring and Fall Grass tees, a large putting green, and an excellent short game practice area are just a few of the benefits available to our teams.
When the weather turns cold, ODU players practice at “The Dome”, the largest in-door driving range in Ohio. “The Dome” measures a full 90 yards from front to back and the indoor temperature is kept around 60 degrees. It provides the perfect environment for the golfers to improve during the cold winter months.
