Rules AND PoliciesAll campers enrolled in southridge summer camps agree to abide by all rules, regulations and standards of conduct required by the staff of the camps, for the enjoyments and benefit of All participants. campers whose conduct is disruptive or otherwise not acceptable, may be asked to leave. Parents or guardians must sign an informed consent form for those camps that are held in part or in full, off the premises.

PossiBle cHANGes AND cANcellATioNssouthridge school reserves the right to limit the number of students and change instructors where necessary. southridge reserves the right to adjust camp content if deemed necessary. southridge also reserves the right to cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment or unavailability of instructors. if this situation arises, camps will be cancelled by the previous Monday by 3:30 pm one week before the start date of the camp and every effort will be made to find a suitable substitute camp. if a suitable substitute camp cannot be made, then all fees for the cancelled camp will be refunded.

once registration has been processed (whether on-line or through our office), transfers between camps can be made free of charge until June 17th. After June 17th all transfers (for any reason other than a transfer as a result of a camp cancellation) will be subject to a $25 service charge. Transfers can-not be done on-line and must be made through the summer camp office. Please call lisa Boudot at 604-542-2303. Transfers can only be made up to one week before the commencement of a camp, provided there is sufficient room in the preferred camp.

ReFuND PolicYPlease request any refund in writing at least 14 days before the commence-ment of the camp. There are no refunds within the two week period before the first day of the camp. There will be a $25 administration charge per camp for refund application.

kickstArt to kindergArten: Around the world F101Age 5 (as of 12/31/13) $225Looking for a fun, active, hands-on, curriculum based summer camp that will help prepare your little one for kindergarten? Learn all about our wonderful world and its continents as we travel to a new place every day and get ready for kindergarten! Our morning will focus on oral language development, social skills, phonemic awareness and numeracy development through music, cooperative games and daily calendar fun. Afternoons will consist of daily crafts, painting, centres and story time. We will head outside to play with sidewalk chalk, paints, and our water table and just have some free time fun; so pack bathing suits, towel and sunscreen. Join us for this week only or for all three weeks of this kickstart to kindergarten Camp. This camp is sure to be packed with summer time fun, friendships and fabulous times! Join us in discovering the wonderful world of insects, spiders and other crawly critters. using kinesthetic, visual and auditory activities, campers will practice and gain confidence in the following: math skills (addition, subtraction, graphing, sorting, counting), language skills (singing, oral speaking), reading, writing, and fine and large motor skills. Join us as we explore the globe, learning about different cultures and what it’s like to live and play in distant lands. We will visit China, Japan, Mexico, Australia and North America (North West Coast Native groups). This journey will incorporate geography, language, cultural activities, games and diversity with active, fun arts and crafts and academic tasks. Try sand painting, breaking a piñata, Chinese calligraphy, making a didgeridoo and more fun activities from around the world as we celebrate the nations and what makes each place around the world unique. Junior Art cAMp F106Ages 6 - 8 (as of 12/31/13) $240Move over Van gogh! Junior Art Camp at Southridge is where campers will discover, experiment with and express their artistic talents in new ways. Participants will enjoy working with all kinds of art materials including clay, papier-mâché, pastels, paints, found objects, food colour-ing and more. On the final day of camp, treat the public to a display of your masterpieces. Our focus is on self-expression; not on having things “perfect”. Participants will increase their overall level of physical fitness while building strong leadership skills. Our activities cater to the individual level and interests of the group. Campers will participate in a wide variety of different sports including: soccer, volleyball, badminton, basketball, floor hockey, ultimate frisbee, California kickball (soccer baseball), European handball, dodge ball and other fun and interactive games. In between the action, participants will be taught how to make lifestyle choices that promote nutrition, health and fitness for life atti-tude. reAders’ theAtre F108Ages 7 - 9 (as of 12/31/13) $225This exciting camp is designed to help children improve their communi-cation skills through the dramatization of familiar stories. Campers will be engaged in both body and mind as they work to memorize scripts and communicate ideas. Each class will include warm up exercises which incorporate language and movement. Following the warm up, students will hear a story to which they must respond dramatically. Responses will require students to write scripts, rehearse lines and perform for an audi-ence. Daily, movement exercises will help students build self-confidence, while encouraging them to consider posture and proximity when per-forming. Cooperation will also be enhanced in this camp through team building activities. This is a great opportunity to make friends, have fun and develop language proficiency! Their creative side will have the chance to shine with a variety of hands-on, colourful crafts using materials person-ally selected during their explorations. Each day will include a story-time that focuses on the world’s creation, myths and legends, furthering the campers’ appreciation of the many connections between them and their natural world. Over the course of the week, you will build your very own town, using mapping skills with the cardinal directions: north, east, south and west. you will put on your civil engineer hats and design roads, parks, buildings, bridges, houses, landscapes and more. using a project board, you will use flat and 3-D shapes to design, colour, cut and build original 3-D buildings with a vari-ety of materials and shapes at your disposal. Imagination and creativity are your tools as you build your very own 3-D town. This camp includes daily recreational breaks. A good understanding of English is necessary. This camp is designed to address the issues of your development as a girl and provide you with the skills to make positive change in your life and the lives of those around you. you will have a chance to work on team building and leadership skills while playing cooperative games and sports! you will also understand and gain control of your self esteem, self respect, self awareness and be a well adjusted community member. you will become an active participant in your development of skills that will help you effectively deal with the demands that society, media and peers place on you. The camp includes yoga and relaxation, art therapy, problem solving and conflict resolution, as well as team building activi-ties and sports. Each day we’ll listen to songs that you love and learn new hip-hop and jazz dance steps so you can dance just like your favourite pop star! We’ll have a blast exploring movement, pop culture and different forms of dance. No previous dance experience is required. On the final day, you can dress like your favourite pop star and get ready to perform with your fellow campers! This camp includes daily recreational breaks. leArning to leAd r416Ages 9 - 11 (as of 12/31/13) $225A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step OR with this very special day camp experience! Learning to Lead is for young people interested in building a deeper understanding of themselves and making meaningful connections with others. Students will participate in a variety of dynamic activities designed to increase self-esteem, build relationships and stimu-late thoughtful discussion around the topics of leadership, compassion, self-knowledge, cooperation and friendship. using a variety of interactive games, team challenges and a series of role-playing activities, students will practice conflict resolution, assertiveness skills and decision mak-ing. Campers will create a journal to chronicle their own personal growth throughout the week. Campers who choose this stimulating camp can expect activities that provide opportunities for observation, communica-tion, reflection, creativity and movement. phYsicAl Fun: hiking, biking, swiMMing r417Ages 10 - 13 (as of 12/31/13) $285Join us for a week of learning and physical fun while we hike, bike and swim around the Lower Mainland. Our week begins with a hike on 10 Vistas Trail at Buntzen Lake - the view is amazing! Tuesday it’s off to Teapot Mountain near Cultus Lake for swimming and hiking in a scenic setting. On Wednesday, campers will tackle the famous grouse grind and take in the view from the top. Thursday we will head off to Alouette Lake for a hike and some swimming. On Friday, we will start and end our bike trip at the trailhead (40th Ave) and head off to Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen for a day of biking by the sea. Campers must provide their own bicycles. Enjoy physical fun and exciting exploration during this busy week! This camp qualifies for the child fitness tax credit. bAsketbAll and Mind gAMes r418Ages 10 - 13 (as of 12/31/13) $225In the morning players will work on interactive math projects that combine basic math concepts, higher order thinking skills and hands-on fun. They will practice applying their math skills by solving a variety of challenging word problems, puzzles and math/logic games.In the afternoon players head to the courts! This action-packed camp is for aspiring basketball players who want to learn more about the great game of basketball from a high level experienced coach. Building on fundamen-tal skills, players will be coached and inspired to raise their game to the next level. “behind the scenes” Art cAMp! F113Ages 9 - 11 (as of 12/31/13) $240have you ever wondered how a stage set in a play or a scene in a movie can look so awesome? Join us in this week-long camp to find out. We will explore the exciting world of stagecraft through mask-making, prop con-struction, set design, scene painting, and more during our very “hands-on” adventure. Be prepared to get messy as you become a “Behind the Scenes” artist! In this camp you will learn papier-mâché, simple construction and mould-making techniques, as well as design and painting techniques. So if you want to know how to make paper look like metal, wood look like marble, and something new look a thousand years old… plus much more, don’t miss out; join us in “Behind the Scenes: Art Camp!” All supplies are included. stAr wArs spAce cAMp F114Ages 9 - 11 (as of 12/31/13) $225A Long Time Ago, In a Summer Camp Far, Far Away! Welcome to Star Wars Space Camp, where enthusiasts will learn about the Star Wars galaxy and our own galaxy! Campers will choose to be with the Jedi or Sith and create their own Star Wars characters. We will also explore movie special effects and learn how certain scenes from the movies were created. Prepare to be “living” in the Star Wars universe as we discover our own universe, and learn about planets, stars, moons, nebulas and comets. The camp will incorporate elements of reading, writing, science and technology, but most of all we will have FuN, exploring the amazing world of Star Wars through games and engaging projects! Campers will need to bring a digital camera that can film one to two minutes of video, for one to two days of the camp. This camp includes daily recreational breaks. diFFerent dAY, diFFerent direction F115Ages 10 - 13 (as of 12/31/13) $325Are you ready to soak up the summer rays with some amazing and awesome adventures? Each day you’ll head off in a different direction; starting Monday you’ll be hiking and exploring Lynn Valley and visiting the suspension bridges with lunch by the river pools. On Tuesday you’ll head off in a different direction for a wet and wild day at Splashdown Park. Wednesday you’ll enjoy the hands-on exhibits at Science World, and Thursday you’ll head off for a game of bowling in the morning, followed by riding the wet and wild waves at Watermania in Richmond. Wrap up this amazing week of fun and learning by heading off to Playland on Friday for a full day of fun. All admissions are included. Our week begins with a hike on Seymour Mountain - lots of great trails here to explore. Tuesday it’s off to Teapot Mountain near Cultus Lake for swimming and hiking in a scenic setting. On Wednesday, campers will tackle the famous grouse grind and take in the view from the top. Thursday we will head off to Alouette Lake for a hike and some swimming. On Friday, we will start and end our bike trip at the trailhead (40th Ave) and head off to Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen for a day of biking by the sea. Rules AND PoliciesAll campers enrolled in southridge summer camps agree to abide by all rules, regulations and standards of conduct required by the staff of the camps, for the enjoyments and benefit of All participants. campers whose conduct is disruptive or otherwise not acceptable, may be asked to leave. Parents or guardians must sign an informed consent form for those camps that are held in part or in full, off the premises.

PossiBle cHANGes AND cANcellATioNssouthridge school reserves the right to limit the number of students and change instructors where necessary. southridge reserves the right to adjust camp content if deemed necessary. southridge also reserves the right to cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment or unavailability of instructors. if this situation arises, camps will be cancelled by the previous Monday by 3:30 pm one week before the start date of the camp and every effort will be made to find a suitable substitute camp. if a suitable substitute camp cannot be made, then all fees for the cancelled camp will be refunded.

once registration has been processed (whether on-line or through our office), transfers between camps can be made free of charge until June 17th. After June 17th all transfers (for any reason other than a transfer as a result of a camp cancellation) will be subject to a $25 service charge. Transfers can-not be done on-line and must be made through the summer camp office. Please call lisa Boudot at 604-542-2303. Transfers can only be made up to one week before the commencement of a camp, provided there is sufficient room in the preferred camp.

ReFuND PolicYPlease request any refund in writing at least 14 days before the commence-ment of the camp. There are no refunds within the two week period before the first day of the camp. There will be a $25 administration charge per camp for refund application.
