Welcome To Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition 2013.On behalf of the Advisory Board, PennWell Corporation, the event owner and producer, and the many exhibitors and sponsors, I want to welcome you to the eleventh annual Deepwater Operations Conference and Exhibition at the Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center in Galveston, Texas.

The Deepwater Conference is specifically designed around Deepwater Operations and is about your business. This conference is for YOU!

This year’s theme is Yesterday’s Experience, Tomorrow’s Innovations and Solutions. The deepwater arena is an ever-changing environment. Regulatory challenges have become greater and technology innovation continues to grow. The water continues to get deeper, well pressures and temperatures continue to climb and we also have an aging infrastructure to deal with, not to mention a lack of people. Our conference objectives are to share learnings, ideas and solutions across deepwater operations so that you may benefit individually.

Your Advisory Board members have worked hard to bring you a great program with new presenters and a few familiar faces. The selected session topics include; Start-ups/First Year Operations, Operational Solutions, Emergency Management and a session with Regulatory authorities. Each session will be followed by a Question and Answer session where you get an opportunity to engage the speakers. This is strongly encouraged. Each session aims to share successful and proven practices.

In addition to the standard sessions, we have two interactive panel discussions. The first panel discussion will be around SEMS and Audit Learnings. The second discussion will be around Safety Culture with a group of field leadership personnel discussing how this is being implemented across the different operators in deepwater. Each panel member brings their own individual experience and depth of knowledge along with a wide range of perspectives.

The exhibition hall and networking sessions are a big part of this event. We continue to grow in the number of exhibitors as well as the variety in the exhibitor booths. The networking time is always a big draw and a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new acquaintances and contacts. We invite you to make the most of the time you have on the exhibition floor to explore the range of services, equipment, and technology available to you.

Thank you for your continued support of the Deepwater Operations Conference and Exhibition. I am confident you will find information, products and services to bring greater success to your area of deepwater operations.

Best Regards,

Shawn Lurry Chairman, 2013 Deepwater Operations Advisory Board Deepwater Production Superintendent Apache Deepwater, LLC

OPERATIOnAL SOLUTIOnS Chair: Jeremy Burford, BHP Billiton Co-Chairs: Donny Burleigh, FMC Technologies Jay Hachen, W&T Offshore

Subsea Riserless Light Well Intervention to Install Wireline-Retrievable SSSV Steven Ashcraft, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation Case history of a riserless intervention project to install a HPPB valve in a failed

closed SCSSV. At the time, the water depth of 4000 ft was a record depth for riserless interventions and one of the first to interface with a horizontal tree requiring the pulling and re-installation of crown plugs. The presentation will cover well objectives, MSV and subsea operations, intervention statistics and costs.

Steve Ashcraft is a Senior Staff Production Engineer with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation currently assigned to the Lucius facility. He has 18 years industry experience in drilling, completion and production operations. His offshore assignments include the Snorre A TLP, Valhall, BC-10, Terra Nova, Boomvang Spar and Marco Polo/K2 TLP.

Alternate: Gulf of Mexico Well Stimulation Program Tom Luehr, Chevron The Tahiti field is located in the Gulf of Mexico at 4200-ft water depths. The Tahiti Multiple

Application Re-injection System (MARS) equipment was chosen as a preferred alternative method to stimulating existing wells with scale inhibitor/acidizing chemicals. The MARS technology equipment is based on injecting chemicals through a modified injection-capable choke and uses a riserless system that can be deployed from a light intervention vessel. The objective would be to interface with existing subsea production tree systems and avoid the use of the drill vessel to perform operations.

Tom Luehr is a Subsea Equipment Engineer working in Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Subsea Engineering team. He received a BSME from Louisiana State University in 2009. Tom has been working with subsea technology since 2012 and is responsible for the design, testing, and deployment of the Tahiti MARS equipment.

Alternate: Rigless Intervention: A novel Approach to Stimulate Deepwater Wells Jonathan Rodriguez, Tullow Oil & Hans Kros, Oceaneering After carrying out successful well stimulations from drilling rigs to rectify scaling in

the Jubilee production wells, a further campaign was executed in the Jubilee field from a floating vessel rather than using an expensive deep water drilling rig. While the primary objective of the rigless stimulation campaign was to increase production, it also demonstrated that rigless stimulation from a Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel (MPSV) is a technically feasible and cost effective option in the 5000 ft of water offshore Ghana. This presentation will go through the main lessons learned during the rig based stimulation and how a rigless approach brought significant benefits to the company in the short term.

Jonathan Rodriguez is a Senior Completions Engineer with Tullow Oil supporting the deepwater Ghana operations at the Jubilee field. His main role was the design of a rigless stimulation and support ongoing completion activities.

Hans Kros has 13 years of experience with Oceaneering, subsea tooling design, ROVs, and vessel operations. He is currently responsible for inspection, maintenance & repair for the Oilfield Projects Group.

Execution and Learnings during the HWCG 10K Capping Stack Deployment May 2013 Tim Sargent, Noble Energy Inc. During the recent deployment of the HWCG 10k Capping Stack, the innovative integration

of existing technologies into field operations enabled real-time knowledge of capping stack bore pressures, thereby increasing the rapid response capability for well shut-in of an incident well while retaining wellbore integrity. Four innovative elements established during the planning were verified during the successful deployment demonstration: Pressure Data Acquisition System (PDAS), Well Integrity Pressure Boundary Analysis (WIPBA), Common Operating Picture (COP), and Innovative Source Control Section & Source Control Center (SCS & SCC).

As Manager of Drilling and Completion Technology for Noble Energy, Inc., Mr. Sargent’s key role is providing assurance for life cycle deepwater wellbore integrity, inclusive of subsea well containment. He has chaired the HWCG technical committee since 2010, and was responsible for the deployment of the HWCG 10K Capping Stack meeting all the objectives set by the Department of Interior.

Managing Logistic Challenges in Deepwater Operations Gregg Jones, Chevron USA As we continue to move further offshore the logistical support for managing evacuations

and emergencies response adds more challenges with increased travel time to complete a simple task. This presentation highlights our experience in managing theses logistical challenges, and taking advantages of new technology to better manage our efforts. Key areas covered are early planning and notification process, knowing where your people are and ensuring you have the resources and efficiently using those resources to complete the task. Centralizing your logistical support is essential in creating an environment that can react across GOM assets. Be prepared to ensure a safe and reliable means of evacuating all potential affected areas, no one wants to be sitting out a Hurricane offshore or not know when or if assistance is on its way.

Gregory Jones, Chevron USA, Marine Category Manager, has over 33 years of service in the industry, with a background in production, safety, and logistics operations. He has been a member of the Hurricane Evacuation Team for approximately 15 years.

MWCC Capping Stack Demonstration Validates Containment Capabilities & Sheds Light

on Technological Advancements for Tomorrow Martin W. Massey, Marine Well Containment Company In July 2012, the DOI and BSEE requested that MWCC demonstrate the capabilities of

its interim containment system to confirm industry’s ability to respond in the event of a deepwater well control incident. In partnership with Shell Oil Company, MWCC successfully initiated mobilization of its containment system, including the physical deployment of the capping stack – the centerpiece of the system.
