Information on Winthrop University's Emerging Leaders program and how to apply

Citation preview

Emerging Leaders is a highly distinctive program that is designed to educate and empower 20-25 first-year students for leadership positions at Winthrop University.

Through living in a residence hall together, sharing two academic courses, and exploring different aspects of leadership, participants will actively learn what it means to lead on campus and in the world.

“Emerging Leaders helped me become a leader on Winthrop’s campus and gave me the tools to lead people wherever I go.”

-Charles Dillard,former Emerging Leader

All participants who are selected will live together on the 6th Floor of Richardson Hall. In doing so, students will be able to continue learning outside of the classroom and engage in discussions over leadership.

Participants will go on a retreat August 13-15. In the fall semester, they will also share two academic classes: ACAD 101 on Wednesdays from 2 pm - 3:15 pm, and LEAD 175 on Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 4:45 pm.

Participants will explore their leadership skills and potential through group discussions, activities, and self-reflection. All students are expected to be active participants in the classes, in the residence hall, and in the program.
