NOMINATION PROCESS FOR MIT GRADUATE STUDENTS: All nominations must be submitted by the departmental graduate office on behalf of the student. Graduate students who qualify for the fellowships should contact their graduate administrator in order to be considered for nomination. The call for nominations begins February 1, 2014 with a deadline of March 7, 2014. Nomination package submitted to departmental graduate administrator should include: - A brief (1-2 pages) research summary from the student, or, for first year students, a copy of the nominee’s “statement of objectives” from his or her application for admission - A curriculum vitae - Most recent transcript - At least two letters of recommendation - Student statement of interest in working for the betterment of the people of Egypt after graduation MIT’s Endowed Fellowship of the Arab Republic of Egypt The Endowed Fellowship of the Arab Republic of Egypt provides an opportunity for qualified and exceptional individuals of Egyptian nationality to pursue graduate education at the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Administered by the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education (ODGE), the fellowship provides up to 10 graduate fellowships per year for citizens of the Arab Republic of Egypt. ELLIGIBILITY: - Students must first be accepted into an MIT graduate Program. Graduate admissions at MIT are handled by individual departments. Contact information for all departments can be found at: http://web.mit.edu/admissions/graduate/pdfs/MIT_depart ment_info.pdf - A citizen of the Arab Republic of Egypt - Demonstrated academic excellence in their field - A commitment to public service and the advancement of Egyptian society, with a stated interest in working for the betterment of the people of Egypt after graduation; - Four year commitment of work in Egypt. Fellows must return to Egypt within two years of graduation to begin working, except in the case of a masters’ student pursuing a higher degree at MIT. The ODGE will share nominations with the Ministry of Finance of the Arab Republic of Egypt so that nominees can receive the Ministry’s recommendation. As part of this process, the Ministry may contact students directly about their work plans after graduation.
