Meet some of the students in our School Sponsorship Program!

!With the help of individual sponsors, Zanmi Lakay now funds 25 children to goto school who otherwise would not have the opportunity. These kids live in St.Marc, Cit Soleil, Port-au-Prince, Jeremie, and Jacmel. Joel Ption, our Director inHaiti, coordinates with families and orphanages for information and arrangements, checks in with the kids, and then visits each school to pay fees directly.

If you would like to sponsor a specific child to go to school for a year, the cost is$250.00. You can also make a general donation to our Education Fund to help withkids not yet sponsored, extra expenses for the families, and assist young adults inour Teens in Transition Program with trade school and living expenses.

!Our second annual Jouk Li Jou Kan Foto - Youth Photo Camp, was a hugesuccess! For this collaborative community project in Jacmel, 48 young Haitianphotojournalists from Kole Zepol in Cit Soleil and Art Creation Foundation forChildren (ACFFC) in Jacmel worked together with nine professionals from the U.S.

as well as Haitian staff for nine days to shoot local daily assignments, learn vitalskills, tell stories from a Haitian point of view, and promote progress in their owncommunity. The student photographers shot over 9000 digital images. This year wemade time for a special day where each student shared their favorite photo with theentire group, taking questions, and discussing important issues about Haiti. The finalexhibition at the Fosaj Art Center included 65 large prints, and an additional 192small prints to create collages. The show was seen by many during August andSeptember, and became part of the World Monument Fund celebration in Jacmel.

Immense thanks to our incredible supporters who contributed equipment, materialsand funds, and to those that made our Indiegogo Campaign a success! We are soproud of all of our students! A full report and gallery of exhibition prints is on ourblog: http://www.zanmilakayblog.org/jouk-li-jou-kan-foto-2012/
