the history oF weatherby®

egan in the mid-1940s when a young cartridge “wildcatter” named Roy Weathery set out to change the world of firearm performance. Contrary

to then-popular thinking (heavy ullets pushed at slow speeds), Roy elieved that lightweight ullets traveling at super high speeds provided the

est comination to create the hydrostatic shock required for one-shot kills. based upon that philosophy, he spent the next decade developing

the high-powered Weathery® Magnum cartridges for which the company is est known today (.224, .240, .257, .270, 7mm, .300, .30-378, .340,

.338-378, .375, .378, .416 and .460). Roy went on to develop the Mark V ® in 1958, a proprietary action renowned as the “world’s strongest olt

action.” In 1970, he developed the Vanguard® action, orrowing many of the characteristics of the Mark V®, ut ased on a dual-opposed lug

Mauser-style action. Today, the company is also known for its proprietary line of semi-automatic and pump shotguns. Rifle or shotgun, superior
