We hope you had an enjoyable summer and were able to take some time off to get a fresh perspective on the future. If our member appreciation picnic is any indication you are ready for an exciting fall. The Lisle Chamber has had a very strong first half of the year. Our events have been well attended, membership is up and we look forward to some in- formative programs that will help you in your business or organization. Thank you for the support you have shown as we gradually recover from some tough economic times. We welcomed several new members with ribbon-cuttings during August and our mem- bership drive offering overnight stays to new members has been very popular. Through the middle of this month the Hyatt Lisle is extending a free overnight with breakfast to new members. We have the greatest hotels which provide a tremendous economic bene- fit to our community. Unfortunately we lost a great friend during August in Keith Tice of Envirmark Inc. Keith was truly the lifeblood of our Government Affairs Committee. He had quietly been battling cancer for over a year and never complained about his situation. Everyone liked Keith. He was one of the finest people you would ever meet. His intelligence and insight into politics was truly remarkable. He will definitely be missed. We invite you to join the Government Affairs Committee to help keep track of issues that affect us lo- cally, regionally, statewide and nationally. Please contact us if you wish to attend the next meeting, Thursday 9/6/12 at 8am at the Chamber office. Women in Business has a great program scheduled in their brown bag series next week. It concerns negotiating against larger companies. The Business Ledger has a legislative breakfast on Wed. 9/12/12 at Cantigny. Our September luncheon will be a barn-burner with a presentation on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Illinois De- partment of Insurance is implementing this new law and you won’t want to miss the dis- cussion. The Not-for-Profit Network has a breakfast panel on partnerships between Prof- its and Not-for-Profits at the end of the month. We hope you had an enjoyable summer and were able to take some time

off to get a fresh perspective on the future. If our member appreciation

picnic is any indication you are ready for an exciting fall. The Lisle

Chamber has had a very strong first half of the year. Our events have

been well attended, membership is up and we look forward to some in-

formative programs that will help you in your business or organization.

Thank you for the support you have shown as we gradually recover

from some tough economic times.

We welcomed several new members with ribbon-cuttings during August and our mem-

bership drive offering overnight stays to new members has been very popular. Through

the middle of this month the Hyatt Lisle is extending a free overnight with breakfast to

new members. We have the greatest hotels which provide a tremendous economic bene-

fit to our community.

Unfortunately we lost a great friend during August in Keith Tice of Envirmark Inc.

Keith was truly the lifeblood of our Government Affairs Committee. He had quietly

been battling cancer for over a year and never complained about his situation. Everyone

liked Keith. He was one of the finest people you would ever meet. His intelligence and

insight into politics was truly remarkable. He will definitely be missed. We invite you

to join the Government Affairs Committee to help keep track of issues that affect us lo-

cally, regionally, statewide and nationally. Please contact us if you wish to attend the

next meeting, Thursday 9/6/12 at 8am at the Chamber office.

Women in Business has a great program scheduled in their brown bag series next week.

It concerns negotiating against larger companies. The Business Ledger has a legislative

breakfast on Wed. 9/12/12 at Cantigny. Our September luncheon will be a barn-burner

with a presentation on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Illinois De-

partment of Insurance is implementing this new law and you won’t want to miss the dis-

cussion. The Not-for-Profit Network has a breakfast panel on partnerships between Prof-

its and Not-for-Profits at the end of the month. I believe there are many great opportuni-

ties to learn how to conduct your business/organization in a more productive way.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. For

me, Labor Day has always been that last chance to catch my

breath before the close of the year. Everyone is making that final

push to meet their personal and business goals, so it is nice to

have a little respite to reflect and recharge prior to that hard push

to finish the year strong.

The Chamber has much to look forward to in the coming months. In years

past we have typically had a rather uneventful fall program, and we are

changing that this year. More details will be coming in the near future, but

I’m pleased to report that this October we are adding a casual 9-hole golf out-

ing at Springbrook Golf Course and on November 18th we are putting on a 5K

Turkey Trot Tune Up run! All you runners out there will have a nice warm up

for any of the several Thanksgiving weekend runs!

The August BAH was hosted by Rosehill Montessori School in Lisle.

Chamber members attended and took a tour of the school which is just a

few blocks from the train station, just off Main Street. This school is a

home away from home atmosphere for preschool/kindergarten age children

providing 3-6 year-olds a quality education within the framework of Mon-

Ambassador SPOTLIGHT— Pat Coughlin

Shortly after being a member of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce in Jan-

uary 2012, Pat Coughlin joined the Ambassador Committee. She enjoys sup-

porting new and established chamber members. Being an Ambassador is an

exciting and impressive opportunity to be around others who are pursuing

their professional goals and dreams.

Pat resides in Lisle with her son, three step daughters, and a multitude of animals. They

have two dogs, a chameleon, chinchilla, frogs, and many fish.

Pat is a realtor at Re/Max Action in Lisle where she assists clients in the process of buying or selling a

home. She focuses on customer service and provides a steady guide through this complex market. Pat has

been in this field since 2006 and has found that being a strong advocate for her clients offers clarity. She

leaves us with this bit of wisdom, “There are so many different scenarios for each transaction – it’s so im-

portant to keep a foundation of what is best for my client and their goals.”
