Catholic Charities
Area Social ServicesCompiled by Catholic CharitiesCatholic Charities is the primary
social service agency of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, serving all, regardless of religious affiliation, in their time of greatest need.
Since fall 2008, the agency has been receiving an unprecedented number of phone calls from individuals and families requesting help as a result of the weakening economy. Those who never thought they would be in a position to call are now faced with losing their jobs, their health insurance or their homes. We believe that parishes are facing similar increases in requests for need.
While Catholic Charities offers a full spectrum of services to help in times like these, there are other collaborating partner agencies in each county of the diocese that are better suited to address specific problems such as housing and unemployment. Bishop David Zubik had asked that Catholic Charities compile a resource guide of services for priests and parishes that would be a helpful
reference in order to best meet the immediate needs of parishioners.
This resource guide is not meant to be a comprehensive listing of all services and agencies available in your area. Rather, it is a listing of Catholic Charities’ offices and top referral agencies in each county, categorized by need. To hear about these resources in Spanish, call Catholic Charities Community Outreach coordinator Brian Wolford at 412-456-6920. For a complete listing of all services and programs available through Catholic Charities, visit the website at www.ccpgh.org.
For any services not listed in this resource guide, visit the United Way website at www.unitedwaypittsburgh.org, which allows you to search by service needed or agency name and includes information for all six counties of the diocese.
Catholic Charities and other top referral agencies in this resource guide are listed by diocesan county — Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence and Washington.

The Catholic Funeral Plan™
The Secure, Sensible Choice for the FutureWhat is the Catholic Funeral Plan™?
It is a faith-based planning alternative for Catholic families who wish to make the decisions about their funeral ahead of time. The planning assures that your decision will be carried out in the manner you requested and in the Catholic tradition.
The Catholic Funeral Plan™ Difference.Unlike other plans, you maintain control of your money and know where it is until it is needed
for your funeral. You choose the funeral home. Payment is made only when the funeral is deliv-ered. The choices you make today can be changed at anytime without penalty or obligation.
Before you pay for your funeral, find out more about the advantages of the Catholic FuneralPlan™.
