Hello!

Wow, so summer is over. It’s amazing how quickly six weeks can pass,

and what a six weeks it was!

Holiday Club & Soul Survivor were the real highlights of the summer for

me. Both of them were amazing and the feedback we’ve had from young

people at both has been really encouraging and positive.

Now the busy Autumn term begins. Hill End, new adventures, Christmas

(already?!), fireworks...it’s looking to be a hectic term!

Read on, and as always, let me know what you think!

AUTUMN TERM 2012

Last Term

Last term ended with a lovely summer BBQ which quite a few

young people attended. It didn’t rain (for once!) and it was a great

way to start the summer.

The summer was dominated by two main events Holiday Club &

Soul Survivor:

About 60 young people attend-

ed Holiday Club which for this

year was held at the Bucking-

ham School. We had our usual

manic week filled with messy

games, plenty of shaving foam,

excellent crafts. We also had

some fantastic worship led by a

youth band and some great

talks.

It was one of the best Holi-

day Clubs we’ve had and

finished on a real high note.

Soul Survivor was a very

different, far more sedate

affair! 12 of us went and

camped with a church from

Cheltenham. The weather

was bearable; the teaching and worship was fantastic and all the

young people came home buzzing and wanting to return next

year—which we will!

COMING UP...

Hill End

Is happening from 21st - 23rd

Heroes

New this term, as a follow-on

from Holiday Club. Heroes is

expanding to those in Year 7+.

Starting on Sep 13th from 7:15

at the Parish Church.

React

Possibly the biggest change of

late. React has been dropping

numbers consistently over the

last year. This term we are drop-

ping it to once every fortnight

and encouraging young people

to attend Heroes. The situation

will be reviewed at Christmas.

Coffee Shop Hangout

Every other Thursday (check

website for dates) I will be hang-

ing out at Fireside in Cornwalls

Meadow from 3:30-5pm. This is

an opportunity for youth to drop-in,

chat & hang out.

Proteens

Proteens is making a return to the

evening service! It was never official-

ly stopped but the youth attending

the evening have been too old. Now

there are younger youth there it will

be restarting this term.

Housegroups

Due to a loss of leaders over the

summer, Claire Ashurst is helping

Liz out with the older girls house-

group. The younger girls group will

be temporarily suspended and will be

encouraged to attend Heroes.

What are we learning? A brief paragraph on what groups are studying this term:

Chill’n’Chat will (hopefully!) be plan-

ning to put on an event towards the

end of the term. Watch this space!

Proteens are spending the term

studying Parables and also exploring

faith through film & music.

Housegroups are exploring the book

of Hebrews alongside other topics

such as Quiet Times, Extremism &

Parents!

ECUMENICAL WORK I thought I’d give a brief update on the

ecumenical work going on in

Buckingham.

Many of you will know that Dave

Criddle—the Parish youth worker—has

now left. This however does not mean

that the joint youth work ventures are

stopping—in fact, anything but!

Second Sunday is still happening. The

venue has moved to the Youth Centre

(next to Buckingham School) to give us

more space.

Heroes, as already mentioned is starting

up, staffed by people from both

churches this is a really exciting new

venture.

Schools work still continues as well. The

RLS CU will be led by pupils from the

lower-sixth and supported by myself for

the time being.

This term we also have several

assemblies in both the RLS and the

Buckingham School. Hopefully some

people from the Parish will be assisting

me in delivering those.

There are still really strong, positive

links between Well Street & the Parish

and all of this fantastic work will keep

going.

For more information on the details of

the youth work please look at the web-

site, or see the notice board in the Low-

er Hall. If you would like to contact Nick

you can do so via e-mail or phone. His

details are below.

How Can You Help? There are always opportunities to

get involved with the youth work.

For more information or details

please speak to Nick.

Calendar Dates It can be tricky to try to keep track

of all the dates. To make life easier

there is a calendar on the website

which has all the youth events on.

To find it just go to:
