Dear ACC Fans, Friends and Alumni:

Welcome to the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships. As you enjoy our competition, you will be witnessing national-cali-ber student-athletes performing at the highest level.

Last season, ACC Cross Country capped off an excellent year with 10 student-athletes earning All-America honors. For the women, Florida State led four ACC teams at the NCAA Championship with a fourth-place finish. North Carolina’s Kendra Schaaf was the top ACC individual with a 15th-place finish. On the men’s side, NC State placed three runners in the Top 45 and finished 10th as a team, followed by Florida State at 12th. The Wolfpack’s Ryan Hill led all league runners with a 12th-place finish.

The ACC has long stood for excellence on the course and in the classroom. That commitment was demonstrated last year when a total of 154 of our cross country competitors were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll, having earned a 3.0 GPA or better for the school year.

Through the years, the ACC has experienced a great deal of success in cross country and this season will be no exception. Our congratulations and best wishes go out to all of the student-athletes, coaches and programs as they prepare to showcase their talents.

We sincerely hope that all the league fans will continue to bring meaning to the ACC’s promise - A Tradition of Excellence … Then, Now and Always.

Dear ACC Fans, Friends and Alumni:

Welcome to the 2011 Atlantic Coast Confer-ence Fall Championships. As you enjoy all of our competitions, you will be witnessing national-caliber student-athletes performing at the highest level.

Last season, the ACC’s fall sports capped off an excellent year with 46 student-athletes earning All-America honors. The Maryland Field Hockey team captured its seventh NCAA Title and the ACC’s 16th in the sport. In addition, last fall we had one National Player of the Year recipient as well as two National Coaches of the Year and two Na-tional Freshman of the Year.

The ACC has long stood for excellence on the playing eld, in our arenas and in the classroom. That commitment was demon-strated last year when a total of 935 of our fall competitors were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll, having earned a 3.0 GPA or better for the school year.

Through the years, the ACC has experi-enced a great deal of success in its fall sports and this season will be no exception. Our congratulations and best wishes go out to all of the student-athletes, their coaches and parents as they prepare to showcase their talents.

We sincerely hope that all the league fans will continue to bring meaning to the ACC’s promise — A Tradition of Excellence … Then, Now and Always.

Sincerely,

John D. Swofford,CommissionerAtlantic Coast Conference

The TraditionConsistency. It is the mark of true

excellence in any endeavor. However,

in today’s intercollegiate athletics,

competition has become so balanced

and so competitive that it is virtually

impossible to maintain a high level

of consistency. Yet the Atlantic Coast

Conference has defied the odds. Now,

in its 60th year of competition, the

ACC has long enjoyed the reputa-

tion as one of the strongest and most

competitive intercollegiate confer-

ences in the nation. And that is not

mere conjecture, the numbers support

it. Since the league’s inception in 1953,

ACC schools have captured 127 national

championships, including 67 in

women’s competition and 60 in men’s.

In addition, NCAA individual titles

have gone to ACC student-athletes

146 times in men’s competition and

102 times in women’s action.

The TraditionConsistency. It is the mark of true

excellence in any endeavor. However,

in today’s intercollegiate athletics,

competition has become so balanced

and so competitive that it is virtually

impossible to maintain a high level

of consistency. Yet the Atlantic Coast

Conference has defied the odds. Now,

in its 60th year of competition, the

ACC has long enjoyed the reputa-

tion as one of the strongest and most

competitive intercollegiate confer-

ences in the nation. And that is not

mere conjecture, the numbers support

it. Since the league’s inception in 1953,

ACC schools have captured 127 national

championships, including 67 in

women’s competition and 60 in men’s.

In addition, NCAA individual titles

have gone to ACC student-athletes

146 times in men’s competition and

102 times in women’s action.
