Infant Class (Pregnancy to One Year): This class covers a variety of topics of interest to a new mother. Examples include social and emotional development, feeding, attachment and bonding, infant firsts, brain development and the promotion of successful sleep habits.

Toddler Class (Ones & Twos):Mobility, asserted independence and exploration are under way! This class focuses on topics such as nutrition, napping, potty training, moving from the crib into a bed, preschool selection, social interaction and behavioral guidance.

Pre-School Class (Threes & Fours): Education, play, socializing, eating habits and developmental milestones are discussed. Parents learn tools to guide their children through this discovery and transitional stage, while continuing to help build self-esteem.

Pre-K/Early Elementary Class (4 to 6 years): Parents discuss early school experiences, family parenting styles, academic expectations, peer relationships and develop a variety of positive discipline strategies.

Continued Parenting Class (6 years & up): Parents will learn and discuss the various milestones and challenges of raising a child. Topics might include school issues such as bullying, peer social relationships, drugs and making healthy choices but will vary based on the needs and composition of the class.Registration information to follow in the Fall Program Guide.

Get Excited - Coming this Fall...Parenting Center - Scottsdale Parenting Group at the JCCValley of the Sun Jewish Community Center is delighted to announce our partnership with the Scottsdale Parenting Group. SPG has served the community for over 20 years by providing parent education and resources and is now offering their classes at the JCC.Ages of children in class descriptions overlap. Enroll in the class that is best suited to your child’s developmental stage. Topics are examples and may change based on the composition and needs of the individual class. 9:30 am - Noon.

Pre-K Academy™Jump Start Pre-K Academy™Jump Start is an afternoon enrichment program that combines creative movement, music, fitness and art to teach important

reading readiness skills, handwriting skills, and early math concepts. Classes are hands on, highly interactive, and are often taught along with alphabet puppets. All lessons are based on the National Institute of Literacy’s recommendations for later literacy success and the Arizona State Standards for kindergarten. Certified Reading Specialist, Jill Leshin, M. Ed., will take your child on a multi-sensory adventure through the world of language and literacy! Reggie Fox Basketball Clinic Grades 2 - 8 | May 31 - June 3 4-Day Camp

Prep for next year’s Junior Suns by participating in the first JCC Reggie Fox Basketball Clinic. Your child will learn specific basketball skills from former pro and experienced coach Reggie Fox. Coach Fox is a committed educator, trainer and community-oriented mentor, who has played and coached professional basketball all over the world during the last 20 years. After an all-American career at the University of Wyoming, Reggie spent 12 years playing professionally with the NBA, CBA as well as leagues internationally. He has traveled the world with Earvin “Magic” Johnson and his all-star team of former NBA players. Reggie has led several youth basketball camps and successful training clinics. He most recently won WBA Coach of the Year as he led the Decatur Court Kings to their first WBA Pro championship in its inaugural season. Using his training techniques, Reggie makes basketball fun and improves skills.M: $200/session NM: $250/session

MASA Israel Journey connects Jewish young adults ages 18 to 30 through 160 different programs - gap year, study abroad, post-college, and volunteer programs. Masa Israel makes it easier to have exciting, life-changing experiences in Israel. All ap-plicants are eligible for grants.Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish adults ages 18 to 26. Taglit-Birthright Israel’s founders created this program to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry, and to strengthen participants’ personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people. The gift of the 10-day trip is being provided by several partners: private philanthropists through The Birthright Israel Foundation; the people of Israel through the government of Israel; and Jewish communities around the world— North American Jewish Federations, Keren Hayesod and the Jewish Agency for Israel.Kibbutz volunteer – experience working in a kibbutz, study Hebrew in a kibbutaz ulpan and enjoy your time.Sar-El encourages volunteers from around the world to visit Israel to experience one or more of the following— work in a nursing home, work in an I.D.F. warehouse, guided tours of interesting locations in Israel, lectures on Jewish and Israeli topics and Shabbat hospitality.
