DIGEST Molok North America Ltd.’s Customer Newsletter 2011 King Street in downtown Kitchener, Ontario has undergone a complete makeover in the past few years. The new streetscape features a flexible, pedestrian-friendly design. And lining the street are M-Cityscapes for both garbage and recycling. Forty Molok ® deep-collection containers were installed, along with 20 moveable surface-mount units. Previously garbage pick-up was required seven days a week, but since installation of Molok ® containers, only 3 pick-ups a week are needed. The Molok ® containers are intended for use by both pedestrians and businesses without rear access to waste disposal. The colour and shape of the units blends nicely with the other urban design elements on King Street. The oval shaped units take up less space on the street and even on the hottest of summer days, the Molok containers are odour free. They keep the new street clean, helping to ensure downtown is a place where residents, investors and shoppers want to be. We’d also like to remind you that Molok® containers are in it for the long haul. The very first Molok® containers installed in Finland 20 years ago are still in operation today. Cleaning and maintenance, like new framing, will ensure they look as good as they perform!

Recycled Plastic Framing16 new colours have been added to the standard selection of recycled plastic framing. With so many colours to choose from, Molok®

containers can really coordinate with your brand, like this orange M-Grease at an A&W in Kitchener, Ontario.

City of Burlington receives awardIn January, the City of Burlington received the Protecting Tomorrow Today award from the Ontario Parks Association at its annual conference. The award was for bringing recycling to the City’s parks and green spaces. Burlington has installed 63 waste and recycling stations in its parks, using Molok® containers. With the new system they expect to divert approximately 22,400 kg of recyclables this year alone.

In 2009, three stations were installed as a pilot project. These stations proved to reduce labour costs and use of equipment, since they have needed to be serviced only twice a year. Molok® containers are helping the City of Burlington to increase waste diversion while reducing emissions and collection costs.

Have fun with framing!

Lunch n’ LearnIn June we held two educational sessions on the Molok® deep collection system, in both Ottawa and Toronto. Over 50 participants attended the presentations and enjoyed a free lunch afterwards.

In the fall we will be hosting more educational sessions in London, Kitchener and Barrie. Dates and locations will be posted to our website as they are determined.

If you’re interested in attending, please contact Alyssa Broadfoot at 1-877-558-5576 or at [email protected].

Eon® Framing A new option for framing! Eon®

plastic framing has the look, feel and natural beauty of wood, without the maintenace. The wood-like slats maintain their colour over time and come in cedar and mahogany. Eon is a Canadian product too, manufactured in Ontario.
