2011 National Conference of State FLEX programs

2009-2010 Strategic Planning

Bureau of Primary Care and Rural Health (BPCRH) and several state partners, including the Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) held a series of meetings with CAHs to develop the FLEX 5-year plan

2009-2010 Strategic Planning

Need Identified: Management 101 for mid-level supervisors

Resource Identified: LHA Education Services

New Opportunity: “Scholarships” funded through FLEX

Core Area:Support for Quality Improvement

Expanded on existing partnership and pilot that provided reimbursement for only nurses and only one learning opportunity provided through LHA

Only 3 nurses participated in pilot

Lesson Learned: More options & better promotion

Promotion may not be effective – not being utilized by many CAHs

Lessons Learned

Offer variety of topics and mediums (i.e., webinars)

Promote year round along with

class list and info on CEUs

Ongoing input from CAH leadership is essential to respond to the rapidly changing needs/changes
