This season, CoachMyhre will have toreplace 3 starters,and talked about his4 captains when theArrowhead caughtup with him. “Wehave the twins, theRodgers sisters,Caitlin and Claireas well as KatieMyhre, and ClaudiaTurner,” stated theCoach.

“They can play,both ends of thefloor. They are allveterans, Clairecan get the ball tothe rim against anykind of defense.She played a sig-nificant roll on the2010 State Title

team. Caitlin Rodg-ers does the littlethings, keepingballs alilve, boxingout, hustling forevery ball.”

Sisters MaKayleighand Allie Cahoonwill play and loga lot of minutesthis years. SeniorMarlene Westerwill also be vital tothe teams success.“Both MaKayleighand Marlene aremore than capable,”stated Sawdey in aninterview.

Also watch forJuniors BrittanyJohnson and Chris-tina Stenson to getmore playing time

that last year.

“This year we arelooking to step itup and build uponthe success we hadlast year,” statesSawdey. “Last yearthere were very fewplayers that had var-sity minutes. It was

also my first year ashead coach.”

The team will alsoface new challengesas they will hap toplay in Section 7.“We are anxiouslyawaiting those chal-lenges!”

Moose Lake AreaBoys hockey had astrong season lastyear under thenfreshman CoachJosh Gamst. CoachGamst and his teamplan to be back inforce this year afterlosing 3 seniors, in-cluding the startinggoaltender.

Figuring stronglyin the plans forthe Rebels are theCisars--brothersJosh and Tyler, aswell as cousin Jakeon the first line.The Gassert broth-ers of Chris, Mike,and Steven also areslated to contributeheavily.

“They will be funto watch--this yearthey will really begood,” indicatedCoach Gamst in atelephone interview.“Those are our firsttwo lines. We are

looking for the third line to step up.”

Also look forSophomore JohnEvanson to playdefense and forward for the Rebels, as well as SpencerClough who is aSenior defenseman.

Freshman Jessie Graham will con-tribute on defense,and has a goodknowledge of thegame, accordingto Coach Gamst.

“In time he will bea good player forus. He played lastyear as an eighthgrader.”

“We hope to contin-ue on with a goodrecord. Learning on and off the ice,how to deal withadversity--it’s more than just a gameof hockey,” Gamststated. “We hope toget on a good rideand run with it.”

The Moose LakeArea Girls hockeyteam figures tohave another stonrgseason, accord-ing to Coach JoeMohelsky. “Lastyear was our bestyet,” he stated in atelephone interview.Mohelsy is enteringhis 6th season asHead Coach.

The Rebels lost 5starters--including3 senior captains,so the Rebels willhave their work cutout for them. “Welost 75% of our of-fensive power fromlast year,” contin-ued Mohelsky.

Erim Mollberg isa returning Juniorfirst line center whois very skilled withthe puck, and is thequickest player onthe team. CoachMohelsky expectsher to put a lot ofpoints up on theboard.

Maggie Unzen isalso likely to con-

tribute points, andwas the teams 3rdleading scorer lastyear.

Senior EmilleeFranken is alsoexpected to contrib-ute.

Freshman Chey-anne Wilson cur-rently plays startingdefense on the JVteam, and is ex-pected to contributeon the Varsity teamthis year offensive-ly. “She is a greatskater, and has greateyes and aware-ness,” indciated

Mohelsky.

Freshman KarinaCisar is also ex-pected to contrib-ute with some firstline playing time.

“We are all abouthard work andhaving fun. Everynight I challengethe girls to be thehardest workingteam on the ice,”stated Coach M.“It’s bluc colarhockey. We workhard every shift.”

The Moose Lake Area Community Band will be per-forming its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 16, at7:30 p.m. in the Moose Lake High School auditorium.The band will be performing several very challeningpieces, including “William Tell Overture” and Stravin-sky’s “Firebird Suite”, along with various Christmaspieces.The band is composed of area residents interested inmaking music fun and of high quality.
