Welcome to the 53rd season of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra!

As you leaf through these pages, you will find that each of our Classics programs includes well-known masterpieces like Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Many of the Classics programs also include less familiar—or new—works that I am sure you will enjoy greatly. We will feature composers from around the globe including Haiti, England, Mexico, Scotland and America. Perhaps most exciting will be a new piece by Dubuque-native Michael Gilbertson!

We will be joined by wonderful soloists all season long, including master violinist Miriam Fried, DSO Principal Pianist Joshua Russell, and several young Juilliard-trained virtuosi who have been featured in NISOM’s “Juilliard in June” concerts the past two summers: pianist Euntaek Kim, percussionist Kyle Brightwell and our own Bridget Pasker.

In addition, don’t miss our Holiday Pops and the return of that sensational Beatles pops concert, Classical Mystery Tour, from three years ago. Thank you for supporting the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and enjoy the music!

Back by popular demand! Classical Mystery Tour performed with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra in May 2009, and we haven’t stopped hearing about it since! The show presents more than 20 Beatles tunes sung, played and performed exactly as they were written. From early Beatles music on through the solo years, Classical Mystery Tour is the best of the Beatles like you’ve never heard them: totally live!
