God’s Covenant with Abram

• God initiated his treaty with Abram

• Gen. 15:6

– Abram believed the Lord and he credited it to him as

righteousness.

• Gal. 3:29

– if you belong to Christ , then you are Abraham’s seed and

heirs according to promise.



If you agree to abide by the

covenant, then...• God’s identity becomes your identity

• Your enemies would become God’s

enemies

• God’s resources becomes your resources

• God’s pronouncements of blessings and

curses apply to you, too.

3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord

4. Remember the Sabbath day & keep it holy

5. Honor your mother & father

6. You shall not murder 7. You shall not commit adultery

9. You shall not give false testimony…

10. You shall not cover your neighbour’s house, wife, etc…



Focus on Divine-Human relationship

• The law is to reveal God’s holy character:

– He is a jealous God, a holy God, just• INTENT, MOTIVE, THOUGHT always included

in the commands.

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lordyour God with all your heart and with all your

soul and with all your mind.38This is the first

the Law and the Prophets hang on these two

commandments .
