OPPORTUNITAS: The Promise of Pace is the motto of Pace:

Opportunitas. A remarkable array of living, learning and work-

ing opportunities await each student. This comprehensive

University offers five undergraduate schools and colleges and

more than 100 academic majors.

* THE FACULTY -- The faculty at Pace bring practical experi-

ence in a discipline or profession to their classroom teaching.

They know what it takes to succeed because they've experienced

success themselves. Professors pursue research in areas that span

the curriculum including business, accounting, biology, commu-

nications, the natural sciences, health care, nursing, computer

science and education, among others.

* COOPERATIVE EDUCATION -- Take advantage of the

University's extraordinary Cooperative Education Program, the

largest and most comprehensive co-op program among four-year

colleges and universities in the New York City area. Each year

Pace places over 1,100 students in over 450 multi-national,

national, regional, and local organizations. The opportunity to

apply classroom theory into hands-on professional settings

allows you to assess how you feel about a particular profession.

Also, you will gain a valuable competitive edge in the job mar-

ket. One-third of the co-op students receive job offers from their

co-op employers.

* OPEN HOUSE -- We invite you to visit the University and

form your own opinion of Pace. Talk to students, talk to profes-

sors, sit in on a few classes, meet with the Admissions staff and

tour the campus. During our Open House Days, you can get your

first taste of Pace's environment through personal contact and

first hand experience.

ONE UNIVERSITY - TWO CAMPUSES: No matter what

you are seeking in a college setting, you can find it at one of

Pace's two different locations. Whichever campus you choose,

you will also have the opportunity to take courses on the other

campus.

*PLEASANTVILLE/BRIARCLIFF -- About forty minutes

from the New York City campus, these two suburban

locations, minutes apart, are administered as one campus. In addi-

tion to a serene setting, the campus is noted for its Environmental

Center and stables complete with horses, goats, and geese. Tennis

courts, outdoor basketball and sand volleyball courts and Willcox

Gymnasium provide ample opportunities for athletics and recre-

ation. In keeping with its commitment to its students, community

and quality campus life, Pace completed construction of the new

75,000-square foot, 17 million dollar Goldstein Health, Fitness

and Recreation Center. The campus offers many living options

ranging from three new townhouse complexes to seven residence

halls.

* NEW YORK CITY -- The New York City campus, located in

lower Manhattan, offers the best of everything that makes New

York special. A short walk from Wall Street and the famous South

Street Seaport, our New York campus stands across the street from

historic City Hall. Nearby public transportation makes commuting

fast and easy. The 650-seat Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts,

located on campus, is the site of acclaimed student productions,

concerts and performers including the Joffrey Ballet, as well as the

new home of the celebrated National Actors Theater.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Students with a creative

flair and a desire to communicate have no problem finding an out-

let; Pace sponsors two newspapers, two literary magazines, two

radio stations and two yearbooks. Plays, concerts, and perform-

ances by professionals and amateurs also enhance student life.

There is also an active Student Government Association on each

campus.

The New York and Pleasantville campuses each sponsor

several fraternities and sororities. While the emphasis is on good

times and bonding, these organizations also put their energies to

good work by sponsoring community service projects. Pace offers

the opportunity to participate in athletics, either varsity or intramu-

ral. The Setters compete in 17 varsity sports in NCAA Division II.

Hochmuth and Fisher will be mostly relied on out of

the bullpen, while Shea is seen as a starter in 2010.

Shea is a pitcher that looks for strikeouts and will

look to have batters looking or, out swinging on her

pitches.

CATCHERS

With the loss of Allutto, coach Stabile will rely on

the skills of junior Siena transfer Olivia Calcagnini,

and sophomore University of Maryland Eastern

Shore transfer Kayla Nelson to fill the void. Both

catchers have solid arms, and also have a great

knowledge of the position. Another aspect both hit-

ters have displayed at their previous schools is their

offensive power, and the ability to drive in runs.

Calcagnini and Nelson will be rotatin throughout the

season, and freshman Megan Jakiela will also see

time behind the plate. Jakiela has also shown a good

arm a sa catcher.

INFIELDERS

Corners

Pitchers Shea and Rescigno are also known for their solid fielding and bats.

They will also be relied on to hold down the first base position when they

aren’t pitching.

McLean will see most of the playing time at the hot corner this season. The

senior has good hands, and strong fielding abilities to take care of third

base. Bell and Calcagnini also have the ability to play third and will pro-

vide any depth needed.

Middle

Bell will be seeing a lot of action at the short stop position this season.

Along with her solid bat, she has a great arm, and great range for the posi-

tion. Junior Michelle Forgione will see a good deal of playing time at sec-

ond base, with her terrific range, and her quick feet being able ot cover the

base.

Other players who will be getting time at second base are Taliza Costanzo,

and Vanessa Maloney. Costanzo has good range and solid arm. She will

be able to also cover the short stop position if needed this season. Maloney

is good defensively, and puts an outstanding amount of hustle in to her play

in the field.

OUTFIELDERS

Dague and Schultheis will be looking to see a lot of time in the outfielding

positions. Dague is coming off her best offensive season, and keeps getting

better every season. She is able to see the ball well, and will probably see a

lot of playing time in left field. Schultheis is coming off a great freshman

year and is able to cover a lot of ground in the outfield.

Larissa Porcelli, Sarah Meleney, Tiffany Ott, and

Maloney, will be rotating to see time in the outfield-

er. Sophomore Porcelli was brought to Pace as a

pitcher, but has since been used for her strong arm

in the field, and her solid batting skills. Meleney

brings a consistent bat to the mix, as well as a

strong arm. Both Ott and Maloney both possess

good speed, and good gloves in the field. They also

provide a lot of effort, giving everything they have.

The Pace University softball team finished the 2009

season with an overall record of 21-25 and 15-13 in

the Northeast-10 (NE-10) Conference. Head Coach

Claudia Stabile returns 12 letter winners from last

year’s campaign, while adding seven newcomers to

make up for the eight letter winners lost. Stabile's

squad, picked to finish 7th in the 2010 NE-10

Preseason Coaches' Poll, will look to make it back

to the NE-10 Conference Tournament again after

falling in the opening round of the 2009 tournament.

Gone to graduation are Christina Pane, Patricia

Hurley, Kiryl Shada and Trish Alluto. 2008

Daktronics All-American Pane finished her four-

year career at Pace ranked 5th all-time in games

played (178), 2nd all-time in hits (191), 2nd in runs

scored (109), and 2nd in stolen bases (43). Hurley

finished her four-year Pace career ranked 4th in

games played (180), 4th in runs scored (76), and tied

for 8th all-time in walks (34). Alluto finished her

four years in a Setters uniform 8th in games played

(154), along with finishing in a tie for third all-time

in walks (53). Pitcher Shada ended her career as a

Setter 2nd all-time in strikeouts (430), wins (49), and earned run average

(2.17). Missy Dubey and Ashley Ratcliffe are also gone from last season's

team.

This season Coach Stabile has a lot of depth throughout her lineup in terms

of fielding and hitting.

Senior Amanda Dague will look to finish her Pace career strong, after a

solid offensive display throughout the 2009 season. She finished the 2009

campaign 3rd on the team in hits (47), batting average (.359), runs (22), and

stolen bases (5). Dague will be joined by fellow senior Kerri McLean will

also look to finish her career strong after being 3rd on the team in walks

(11), and 4th in home runs (3).

Sophomore Nicole Schultheis will look to improve upon her solid rookie

season after being named to the Northeast-10 Conference’s All-Rookie team.

in 2009. Schultheis led the Setters in batting average (.380) last season,

along with being 2nd on the team in stolen bases (7), and 4th in runs scored

(21). Fellow sophomore Lauren Bell was another reliable offensive player

in 2009 coming in 4th on the team in hits (37), in a tie for 2nd in runs batted

in (24), 3rd in home runs (4), and 3rd in total bases (57).

PITCHERS

With the loss of Shada in the offseason, Coach Stabile brings in three talent-

ed freshman to add depth to the already talented returners to the pitching

staff. Each pitcher is different in their own way, and they each have some-

thing different to bring to the table for the Setters, whether it’s the speed of

the pitch, the movement or the type of pitch.

Juniors Alicia Parlon, Christina Rescigno and

Samantha Poulson will be the experienced part of

Pace’s pitching staff this season. Both Parlon and

Rescigno gained valuable expierience in 2009 each

starting 10 games and pitching over 55 innings

apiece. Poulsen will be looking to get more innings

in 2010 for the Setters, after seeing a decent

amount of mound time in her first season back

from injury in 2009.

Freshmen Kelly Fisher, Colby Hochmuth, and

Chelsea Shea enter the fold in 2010 for addition

talent in Pace’s pitching staff. Hochmuth has good

movement to her pitches, while Fisher brings in a

healthy dose of speedy pitches to the staff.

PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS

THE PACE STORY:

Pace is a university whose resources have played an essential role in the realization of individual dreams of achievementand whose mission is voiced in its motto: Opportunitas.

Founded in 1906 by the Pace brothers as a business school for men and women who aspired to a better life, PaceInstitute began its transformation into a modern university, with emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences, under RobertPace 42 years later. With dynamic leadership and fiscally sound management, Pace has grown into one of the largest uni-versities in New York State, with a multi-million dollar physical plant, an endowment of over $100 million and a reputa-tion for excellent teaching and talented, ambitious graduates.

Pace is a comprehensive university with five schools and one college that offers a wide range of academic and profes-sional programs for a large, diverse population of more than 13,000 students in for-credit programs, and in affiliatedofferings. Through its Lubin School of Business, Pace continues to build its reputation for excellence in business educa-tion. The Lienhard School of Nursing, the School of Law, the School of Education and the Seidenberg School ofComputer Science and Information Systems are more recent responses to the needs of the New York City andWestchester communities for strong professional schools to prepare a well-educated workforce.

The University's decision in 1948 to develop a college of arts and sciences as both an autonomous academic unit and afoundation for the undergraduate core curriculum has strengthened and enriched the educational experience of Pace stu-dents and provided an ongoing source of intellectual enrichment to the University. The Dyson College of Arts andSciences is central to the intellectual life of Pace, to shaping academic priorities, and to providing ethical, humanistic andscientific principles upon which lives and careers are founded.

At the heart of Pace's academic values is an historic commitment to excellence in teaching, as manifested by small class-es, an emphasis on skill development and critical thinking, special tutoring and support services, and academic advising.Academic experiences at Pace emphasize teaching from both a practical and theoretical perspective, drawing upon theexpertise of faculty who balance academic preparation with professional experience to bring a unique dynamic to theclassroom.

While the primary emphasis of the institution is on excellent teaching, the university supports and encourages scholarlyactivity to ensure the intellectual vitality of the faculty. While much of the work has had professional application, Paceparticularly invites scholarship that directly relates to the classroom experience and involves students in the researchprocess.

Pace has always had a student-centered focus and is committed to providing access to those who range widely in age, ethnicity, socio-economic background and academic preparation. Increasing amounts of institutional financial aid to helpstudents meet the growing costs of a private education; locations in New York City and Westchester County; evening, weekend and summer scheduling; and special counseling and academic support services are ways in which the universityhas sought to enhance the accessibility and opportunities of a Pace education.

A significant tradition of Pace University is its strong relationship with business, civic and community organizations.Offering special programs and services to neighboring institutions and corporate partners, the university gains strength inreturn from these partnerships and derives benefits for its students from the networks these linkages provide.

The future of Pace University will be shaped by its traditions and values as they respond to the current needs and expec-tations of today's students. Combining excellence in instruction with personal attention, Pace provides the virtues of thesmall arts and sciences college with the curricular richness, scholarly disposition and excellent professional programs ofthe research and comprehensive institution.

HISTORY OF PACE UNIVERSITY:

Founded in 1906 by the Pace brothers, Homer and Charles, The Pace Institute was a business school for men and womenwho aspired to a better life.

Homer and Charles Pace borrowed $600 to rent a classroom and office in the old Tribune building in lower Manhattan toteach 10 men and three women the principles of accounting and business law. That building once stood where the PacePlaza building stands today. Two years later, because of the overwhelming success of the Pace School of Accountancy, the Pace brothers relocated

classes to the nearby Hudson Terminal complex. Another move to the Transportation Building at 225 Broadway tookplace in 1927 in response to continued growth.

In 1948, Pace Institute was approved for college status by the New York Board of Regents. Academic expansion forcedyet another move to 41 Park Row in 1951, and two years later Pace College received authorization from the StateEducation Department to grant the bachelor of arts degree.

Classes began on the Pleasantville campus in 1963. The year before, the Marks Hall building was signed over to theCollege by Pace Trustee Wayne Marks, President of General Foods, and his wife, Helen. Soon after, Dyson Hall wasconstructed, named in honor of alumnus, Trustee and benefactor, Charles H. Dyson. Willcox Hall was named for Trusteeand benefactor Byron Willcox.

In 1965, the Undergraduate School of Business Administration, the School of Arts and Sciences and the School ofEducation were established.
