What should you bring?

Take five minutes and make your own list of stuff you would take with you if you were to go backpacking in the Rocky Mountains in the summer. Then we will compare your list to a what an experienced backpacker might take out.

Four Big Components:

#2 – Tent – 3 season or 4 season?

Three season tent

Four season is really a one season tent – to heavy and hot decent weather.

Synthetic/DownSynthetic will keep you warm if it gets wet –

down will lose its warmth if it gets wetTemperature rating is important – to hot and

you have a miserable night – too cold and you could die.

#3 Sleeping Bag

#4 Backpack – Internal vs. External

External – “old school”

Internal – “modern”

In general you can haul more “stuff”

In general you have more range of motion
