Stefanie Pempers Thoughtson the 2010-11 SeasonTThhee PPrree--PPaattrriioott LLeeaagguuee SScchheedduullee::

The non-league portion of ourschedule is tough with a couple of chal-lenging tournaments and two substantialroad trips. Were looking forward to get-ting off campus for the opening Siena-NJIT swing. We also have some greathome matchups for fans in the region, inparticular when the former No. 1 recruit inthe country visits with Delaware onDecember 5. The best team on ourschedule from last year is Princeton andthey return everyone so that will be a ter-rific test for us.

TThhee PPaattrriioott LLeeaagguuee::I suspect its a unique year in the

League when two teams are so highlyanticipated to dominate. Certainly Lehighand American had terrific seasons ayear ago with both going 13-1, and eachteam returns a majority of its talent. Thatsaid, every team has reason to be opti-mistic and I like our talent and depth. Forus, its about growing our mental tough-ness and team chemistry to allow us tomature and succeed over a 10-weekLeague season. I believe in the womenon our team; for a young team, we havestrong leadership potential.

TTeeaamm CCaappttaaiinn AAnnggeellaa MMyyeerrss::Our team was watching film of a

preseason scrimmage and I told ouryounger players, Enjoy Angelas finalyear because youre going to see hermake plays on both ends of the court thatare really special. It isnt just her talent, its her passion for competition and herdesire to see her teammates succeed. Iwant so much to get the word out to fansand alums to cherish her final 14 homegames in a Navy uniform because shewill go down as one of the all-time best.

TThhee RReettuurrnniinngg TTeeaamm MMeemmbbeerrss::Certainly Cassie has the talent to

be an all-conference player with herknowledge of the game and her ability todefend, rebound, score inside and hitthree-pointers. No one is happier withJades play than Cassie because it canallow Cassie to play away from the bas-ket, which is what she prefers. I love

where Erin Edwards is at physically andmentally; she makes great decisions andcan shoot it. Erin has an important role onour team as someone who can play thepoint and the shooting guard positions. This is an exciting year for our sophomoreclass. Chey has emerged as one of ourmore talented scorers, Jasmine has theability to be an all-conference player,Megan competes and makes plays, andChantel could really help us defensively. Were going to need a fourth post tomake an impact and its an equal-oppor-tunity thing. Jen Penley and DestiniHenderson are both in prime positions tofill that role.

TThhee FFrreesshhmmaann CCllaassss::Our freshmen are a strong class

and they are already having a substantialimpact. During preseason conditioning,Audrey, Kara and Jade showed levels ofmental toughness and leadership that isspecial. They all continue to inspire onthe court. Jade plays with so much pas-sion and strength, Kara has the knowl-edge, discipline and flair of a great pointguard, Alix really competes and makesplays on both ends, Audrey does somany little things and makes others lookgood, and M.L. works hard and showsgood versatility and confidence. They areimpressive young women.
