SPEAKER BIOS

Thomas J. Langer, CPP, ASIS International PresidentIn addition to serving as the ASIS International President, Tom Langer is Vice President of Security for BAE Systems, Inc. Previous roles with BAE include Director of Security for the Information and Electronic Warfare Systems Dept., Sector Director of Security for the Information and Electronic Systems Integration dept. He has served as a sworn officer and detective in the Juvenile Division of the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department. Tom received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from St. Anselm College. He has served as chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association Industrial Security Committee and was a member of the National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee of the Information Security Oversight Office within the National Archives.

Keynote Speaker: David Gibbs, CPPPrincipal, Gibbs Associates, Inc.David J. Gibbs, CPP has served the security industry globally for more than 40 years, and is Principal at Gibbs Associates, Inc., an international company that specializes in risk management and technology consulting. He is the ASIS International Chairman of the Next Generation Commission, and serves as a Council Vice President. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the International Healthcare for Security & Safety Foundation. He is on the Curriculum Advisory Board for the University of Phoenix and served as a member of the U. S. Olympics Advisory Committee. Mr. Gibbs is Board Certified in Security Management and holds a CPP designation.

Lianne Kennedy-BoudaliSenior Director of Strategy and Intelligence for Concentric

Lianne Kennedy-Boudali is Senior Director for Strategy and Intelligence at Concentric and possess more than 15 years’ experience in international security and geopolitical intelligence. Prior to joining Concentric, she spent several years leading a geopolitical intelligence team in the Middle East. Her previous positions include Policy Analyst at the RAND Corporation and Associate Professor at West Point. Ms. Kennedy-Boudali is a recognized expert on political violence, international security, terrorism, and regional affairs, and has testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Having served in a wide range of roles, Lianne brings a unique perspective to all of her work.

David G. Rickerson, ASIS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter ChairMr. Rickerson has 15 years of professional experience in security program planning and consulting including the design, engineering, specification, and project management of a diverse array of technology solutions. His technical expertise spans access control and alarm monitoring, video surveillance, intrusion detection, Security Operations Centers (SOC), CPTED, emergency communications, telecom, nurse call, infant tagging systems, and various other low-voltage systems. His experience with systems integration coordination, administration and management planning, organizational practices and staffing planning greatly enhances his ability to lead projects to successful completion in real-world deployments.

Alana ForrestDirector, Global Physical Security for North America for OracleAlana Forrest began her public service career in 1983 at the Palo Alto Police Department where she rose through the ranks to Lieutenant. She promoted out to the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department in 2000 and retired as a Captain in 2012. Prior to retirement, she worked part time in both technical writing and corporate security strategies; which eventually led her to Pixar Animation Studios in 2013 as the Director of Safety and Security. In May of 2017 she began her role as the Director, Global Physical Security for North America at Oracle. Ms. Forrest has a MA in Education and a BS in Criminal Justice and has attended numerous executive level leadership programs across the country. She enjoys life long learning, coaching and mentoring, anything athletic, gardening, fine dining and travel. She is married and has two four legged children, Nicki and Maverick.

John Penn IISenior Solutions Architect for Law Enforcement Technologies for AdobeJohn Penn II, Senior Solutions Architect for Law Enforcement Technologies at Adobe Systems Incorporated, has spent over three decades writing software. Recently, he spent 11 years working as a Senior Computer Scientist on Photoshop for Adobe. But after attending the first Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Conference, John was so profoundly affected by what he heard that he moved into what has become the most challenging, rewarding chapter of his career: Victim Identification and Digital Media Analysis for law enforcement. Focusing on the role software can play in the prevention and investigation of internet crimes against children as well as crimes involving digital media, John has helped develop advanced victim identification tools and techniques and train police officers and federal agents on their implementation.

Possess an extensive international network of security and logistical contacts. Experienced in tailoring responses to emergent international events by evaluating and utilizing available personnel, information and logistical capabilities. Mr. Smallman’s career includes services as a Special Agent in the FBI, NCIS Special Agent, Staff Counterintelligence Officer, Liaison Officer. He has received numerous awards and commendations including the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and many others.
