Cultivating the Cropof the Future!

Steve CliveWenatchee, Secretary

Members of Washington’s tree fruit industry established the Washington Apple Education Foundation fourteen years ago. Several hundred scholarships and many educational grant partnerships later, we can confidently report that support for bolstering the next generation is of high priority to industry members!

2007 was a banner year for the Washington Apple Education Foundation, marking the first year the industry awarded over 100 scholarships to its talented, college-bound young people! These students are studying for careers as marketing professionals, accountants, horticulturalists, researchers and much more – preparing for the day when they will fill top positions and capture the next innovative niche for the tree fruit industry and its communities.

It doesn’t take much for kids to reach their dreams – just a thoughtful nudge from a community that cares. Thankfully for kids from tree fruit districts they live in a community that does.

Thank you for making the work of WAEF a priority!

Warm Regards,Tom Stokes Jennifer WitherbeeChairman Executive Director 2

I have gained so much knowledge in such a small period of time, which only makes me more excited and passionate about what the future will bring. I would like to thank you for your generous contributions to my education. Your faith in me has really made a difference! It is very much appreciated.

I have definitely grown as a person. At college, you don’t have anyone waking you up for school or reminding you to eat dinner. You have to do everything on your own and for me it has made me become way more mature and put my priorities in the right place. Thank you! I am enjoying WSU and am so glad that I came here.

With great anticipation I look forward to returning to WSU next fall as a sophomore Apparel Design student. Thank you for your generous support of my education, the difference that you are making in my life is extremely valuable to me, and I hope to make you proud.

Thank you for your support of my college dreams, as well as assistance for other students seeking higher education in agriculture. I hope to carry on the same spirit of giving in the community after I complete my education.
