Riverside officials are proposing a five-year, $780 million
spending plan meant to improve the quality of life in the
Inlandregions largest city. Roughly half the money already is
budgeted
and will pay for improvements to the citys water, sewer
andelectric systems, among other things. The other half of
themoney, about $397 million, would have to be raised from avariety
of sources and would go to build numerous projects,some of which
are listed below.

The dredging of Lake Evans and an additionalnine holes for the
golf course are possibleimprovements for Fairmont Park under
thecitys proposal.
Children cool off in a water sprinkler at Bordwell Park, where a
childcare center and an addition to the senior center are part
of$4.2 million in improvements.
Traffic makes its way through a railroad crossing along Magnolia
Avenue near Merrill Avenue after a trainpasses by. The city is
planning to build an underpass so motorists dont have to contend
with numeroustrain-related delays each day.
Lighted fields, new tennis and basketballcourts plus a remodeled
playground are partof an $8 million upgrade at Hunter Park.
