Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to welcome you in Singapore for the 2013 Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society. In addition to those sessions formed from accepted papers through open submissions, it is the first time for the Asian Meeting to have parallel sessions that are organized by many dedicated individual organizers. The conference has 132 parallel sessions besides 11 invited lectures. The conference is well attended with 600 participants (including about 530 speakers) from all over the world. The first day of the conference, which consists of invited lectures, will be held in the lively University Town, which was opened two years ago by the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a new educational hub complete with residential spaces, teaching facilities and study clusters. All the parallel sessions will be held at the conference hotel on the second and third day of the conference. Besides meeting you in the conference sessions, we also look forward to seeing you at the conference dinner, which will take place at Chui Huay Lim Club on 3 August 2013. Please wait for the chartered buses at the conference hotel entrance at 6:45 pm. During the conference, lunches will be provided at the conference venue. For your night out, there are many restaurants, bars, and cafes along the riverside at which the conference hotel is located. Downstream in walking distance you will also find Clark Quay, which is a main nightlife location in Singapore. For sightseeing at night, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Gardens by the Bay, and Night Safari are popular destinations. We acknowledge the generous support from the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the Department of Economics, National University of Singapore. We are also grateful to the Econometric Society, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and the Civil Service College for their sponsorships of this conference. Let us take this opportunity to thank the Program Co-chair Professor Han Hong, members of the local organizing/program committees, the session organizers, colleagues in the NUS Economics Department, and the support staff (Ms Meng Woan Lim and Ms Seok Min Neo) and the student assistants (Xiang Sun, Yifei Sun, and Ben Wang) who have spent many hours helping with the organization of the conference. Without their hard work this event would not have taken place. We hope you will enjoy your stay in Singapore and please do not hesitate to ask our conference team if you need any assistance.
