Fire lanes aren't just for fire trucks – in case of any kind of emergency, a FIRE LANE sign is meant to allow room for police, ambulances
and, yes, firemen to gain easy access to property. These parking spots are generally
in convenient places near entrances and exits, exactly where people are most likely to want to park. However, these lanes are not to be
used at all. Even if you are waiting on someone and setting in the car.
Please stay out of the fire lanes.
W i n t e r A n i ma l C a r e During extreme cold weather, keep your pets indoors.
If for some reason your dog is outdoors most of the day,
he or she must be protected by a dry, draft-free shelter that
is large enough to allow the dog to sit and lie down
comfortably but small enough to hold in body heat. The
doorway should be covered with waterproof burlap or
heavy plastic. The floor should be raised a few inches off
the ground and covered with cedar shavings or straw.
Pets that spend a lot of time outdoors need more food in
the winter because keeping warm depletes energy.
Routinely check the water dish to make certain the water
is fresh and unfrozen. Use plastic food and water bowls
so your pet’s tongue won’t stick and freeze to the metal
when the temperature is low.

Before the cold sets in: Familiarize yourself with areas of your
home most susceptible to freezing, such
as basements, crawl spaces, unheated
rooms and exterior walls.
Eliminate sources of cold air near water
lines by repairing broken windows,
insulating walls, closing off crawl spaces
and eliminating drafts around doors.
Turn off and fully drain sprinkler and
irrigation systems.
Protect your pipes by wrapping exposed
pipes with insulation.
Locate your in home main water shut-off
valve.
When temperatures are consistently at or below
freezing: Open cabinet doors to expose pipes to
warmer room temperatures.
Keep water moving through pipes by
allowing a small trickle of water to run.
Make sure the lid to your meter pit is
closed tightly.
Don’t shovel the snow from the top of the
meter pit lid….it acts as insulation.
If your pipes freeze: Shut off the water immediately at your
home main water shut-off valve.
Apply heat to the frozen pipe by warming
the air around it using a hair dryer, space
heater, or hot water.
Do not use a kerosene heater or open
flames to thaw pipes inside your home.
Once pipes have thawed, turn the water
back on slowly and check for leaks.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over The Holiday Season is over but that doesn’t mean our law enforcement stops watching for drunk drivers! Drinking and
driving accounts for one-third of vehicle-related fatalities in the USA. According to NHTSA, 37,461 people were killed in motor
vehicle traffic crashes in 2016 and 28percent of those involved a driver having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit of
.08. In every State, drunk driving is illegal, and the consequences can
prove deadly to you and those around you. If driving while impaired, you could be arrested or involved in a car crash,
potentially inuring or killing you, your passenger, or another road user.
The legal & financial costs of a DUI can be significant. You could face jail time, lose your license, higher insurance rates, attorney
fees, and more. On average, a DUI can set you back $10,000. Please, if you see someone who is about to drink and drive, take the keys away and make arrangements to get your friend home.

With the onset of freezing
temperatures, homeowners should take
simple steps to help prevent household
pipes from freezing. And protecting
your home against the cold helps save
on energy bills and safeguards your
plumbing against the threat of breaks.
Property owners are responsible for
maintenance of the water service line
from the curb to the house, as well as
any in-home piping. We encourage
residents to take the following
precautions to reduce the risk of
freezing and bursting pipes:
