Welcome from the Head Teacher I am delighted that you have accepted a place at Hitchin Girls’ School and look forward to welcoming you when you join our school community. Your first few days in September at HGS will not involve subject lessons. There will be lots of activities to help you get to know your new form tutor, other students and find your way around the school. These include your first full assembly, House challenges, photo orienteering around the school site, team games, an Escape Room, logging onto the computer system and getting your email address, Resilience workshops, learning about the library and a choice of subject workshops. There will be a Celebration Event held and you will be able to invite Parents, Carers, Guardians, Grandparents and other family members to show them what you have been doing (details tbc and will be subject to current Government advice). Normal lessons will start in the second week. All students at HGS are in one of eight Houses. Each House is represented by one form in each year group. The Houses are named after famous and influential women. However due to the current situation this isn’t possible so we will be bringing you an introduction to the HGS community through a series of newsletters.
