1st International online Harp Competition “Crescere con la musica” (“Growing up with music”)
Rules
Art. 1
The Cagliari “Arpeggiando” Music Association holds the First International online Harp Competition “Crescere con la musica” (“Growing up with music”) in order to promote music culture and increase the passion for the study of the harp among young people following Maestro S. Suzuki’s method.
Art. 2
The competition is open to young Italian and foreign harpists attending a music school, a music association, or an individual course, in which the harp is taught according to the Suzuki method.
Art. 3
In order to enter the competition, applications must include a certificate stating that the harpist’s teachers are regularly registered with the ISI or the ESA for the year 2021.
Art. 4
Videos must be sent between 10th and 15th May 2021.
Videos received outside the established dates will not be considered by the commission.
Art. 5
All videos must be sent exclusively via wetransfer to the following email address:
Important! Please make sure to include the contestant’s Name, Surname and category, both in the subject line of the email and in the video file.
Art. 6
The videos must be shot horizontally and with a medium close-up framing showing the contestant’s face and hands. The commission will discard videos with poor quality images where the contestant is not recognizable.
Art. 7
Registration
All applications (see the link for the “registration form”) must be submitted exclusively via email to the Cagliari “Arpeggiando” Music Association at the following address: [email protected] All applications must be sent by 31st January 2021 Name, surname and category/ies of participants to the competition must be indicated in the subject line of the email- The application must be countersigned by a parent. The following documents must be attached to the application:
• A copy of the identity document or a parent’s self-certification; together with the privacyauthorization and the authorization for the use of images.
• A copy of the payment of the registration fee made via bank transfer to “Arpeggiando”Music Association.

Art. 8
The registration fee amounts to €50 for each category. If a contestant subscribes to more than one category, he/she will benefit from a 20% reduction on the second registration fee.
Art. 9
The Selection Board, whose decision is final, incontestable and unappealable, will be composed by harp teachers specialized in the Suzuki Method. Jury: Gabriella Bosio ( Harp Teacher Training, Suzuki Talent Centre, Turin),
Ester Gattoni (Qualified to Teach all Books-level 5, Como Conservatory of Music),
Tiziana Loi (Qualified to Teach all Books-level 5, Cagliari “Arpeggiando” Music Association, Suzuki Music School, Cagliari),
Alessandra Magrini (Qualified to Teach all Books-level 5, Grasse Conservatory of Music, France),
Nicoletta Sanzin (Qualified to Teach all Books-level 5, Trieste Conservatory of Music),
Emiliana Sessa (Qualified to Teach all Books-level 5, Suzuki Music School, Florence)
Art. 10
If a contestant is a student of a member of the jury, the latter will not take part in the voting.
Art. 11
The auditions will take place exclusively online and will be subdivided into six categories.
Cat. A From 4- to 5-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Twinkle, Twinkle Variation C, from the I volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher.
Maximum duration: 3 minutes
Cat. B From 6- to 7-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Lightly Row (pg 15), from the I volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher. Maximum duration: 5 minutes
Cat. C From 8- to 10-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Siciliana by M. K. Waddington, from the II volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher. Maximum duration: 7 minutes
Cat. D From 11- to 12-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Andante from Sonatina no. 2 by J. Dussek, from the III volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher. Maximum duration: 10 minutes
Cat. E From 13- to 14-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Etude no. 4 by F. Godefroid, from the IV volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher. Maximum duration: 12 minutes
Cat. F From 15- to 16-year-old contestants having their birthday by 01/01/2021.
Programme: two pieces, of which one is mandatory, Allegro Moderato from Sonata in C minor by S. Corri Dussek, from the V volume of the Harp School (International Edition), and the other one is freely chosen by the teacher. Maximum duration: 14 minutes
Art. 12
The contestants can compete in more than one category if their knowledge is deemed to be adequate.
Art. 13
Performing by heart is not mandatory.
Art. 14
The results of the competition will be both communicated to the winners via email and published on the competition website, www.arpeggiando.it, by 10th June 2021. Subject to parental consent, the videos of the contestants will be published in the YouTube channel of the competition.
Art. 15
Awards
Awards will be assigned according to the following ranges of scores.
From 96 to 100, 1st Prize Diploma; from 91 to 95, 2nd Prize Diploma; from 85 to 90, 3rd Prize Diploma. In addition to the diploma, first, second and third overall awards winners (meaning those who obtained the highest score in each category) will receive a money prize, subdivided as follows:

Art. 16
All participants will obtain a participation certificate.
All awarded students’ teachers will receive a certificate of merit.
Art. 17
“Città di Cagliari” (“City of Cagliari”) Special Award for the harpists who subscribed to Cat. E and F “Arpeggiando” Music Association will assign the “Città di Cagliari” (“City of Cagliari”) special award to the Sardinian harpist who will have stood out for his/her performance, independently from the awards won. The award will consist in a solo concert with J. Wendt chamber Orchestra.
Art. 18
Registration implies the complete and unconditioned acceptance of these Rules. For any dispute, the Court of Cagliari will have jurisdiction.
