    We are pleased to announce the newBently Nevada 1900/65 GeneralPurpose Equipment Monitor. Thisflexible, cost-effective system isspecifically designed to continu-ously monitor and protect essentialand balance-of-plant equipmentassets in a wide range of industriesincluding: Oil & Gas, PowerGeneration, Water Treatment, Pulp& Paper, Manufacturing, Mining,Cement, and others.

    Traditional rack-based monitoringsystems like the Bently Nevada

    3500 Series are widely accepted forprotecting large, complex rotatingmachinery, but it is generally diffi-cult to justify this type of continu-ous monitoring for less-criticalequipment. As a result, thesemachines typically operate withoutadequate protection. While simple

    devices such as 4-20mA transmitters areavailable, they offervery limited capabili-ties and require addi-tional devices toconvert the 4-20 mAsignals to protection.

    The 1900/65 Monitor is suitablefor monitoring and protecting cool-ing tower fans, pumps, blowers,motors, pulverizers, air compres-sors, small reciprocating compres-sors, small electric motors, small

    hydro turbines, centrifuges, andother equipment assets. It canbe easily retrofit on existingmachines or used by original equip-ment manufacturers (OEMs) forcost-effective inclusion on smallerskid-mounted and packagedmachines.

    The 1900/65 provides extensivecapabilities: eight input channels;six configurable alarm relays; four4-20 mA outputs; buffered outputfacilities for easy connection toportable diagnostic instruments;

    Microsoft

    Windows

    -based con-figuration software; an optionaleasy-to-read display that can bemounted locally or up to 75meters (250 feet) away; and anoptional IP65-rated weatherproofhousing (or door for panel-mountapplications).

    [Vol.25 No.1 2005] ORBIT 45

    Special emphasis has been placedon a highly configurable and flexi-ble design that can be easily adaptedfor individual applications and

    provides multiple measurementparameters for each input sensor. Asingle seismic sensor input, forexample, can return up to four dif-ferent measurement parametersincorporating bandpass filtering,integration, RMS or Peak detec-tion, bias voltage, and accelerationenveloping. Combined, the vibra-tion and temperature inputs can be

    processed into 20 different meas-urement variables of the userschoosing, each with its own alarms,providing high measurement den-

    sity in a very small package. Alarmlogic is also highly configurable users can incorporate sophisticatedvoting logic between variousparameters and channels in virtu-ally unlimited combinations.

    The optional display module pro-vides new installation freedom.Mount the monitor where wiringcosts will be minimized (such as

    near the machines), and mount thedisplay where it is most convenientfor personnel to access (such as ashelter or control room) up to 75

    meters away. Or, eliminate the dis-play altogether when a blindmonitoring system is all that isneeded.

    Now, there is a system that providesthe balance of functionality andaffordability that you need tomonitor your essential and balance-of-plant equipment assets.
