Introduction
Operating mechanisms of type HM can be used for the entire portfolio of high-voltage circuit-breakers – like live tank breakers LTB, dead tank breakers DTB, gas-insulated switchgear GIS, hybrid switchgear and generator circuit-breakers GCB. So far more than 115,000 units of HM operating mechanisms have been delivered worldwide. The required energy range for these high-voltage circuit- breakers (from 75 to 1,200 kV) is currently covered by the members of two product families: – HMB (2nd generation) – HMC (3rd generation)
A well-proven application release process (ARP) is available to support the adaptation to the switchgear and to ensure an optimum adjustment of the operating mechanism parameters to the circuit-breaker.
This catalog– lists all products, which are available for new applications and – defines – the standard scope of deliveries and – the additionally available options, which can be chosen specifically for the application or for a specific project.

Basic mechanism with major modules and minimum required functionality to operate the circuit-breaker. Some additional options available.

Modules
Operating mechanisms of type HM are spring operating mechanisms with hydraulic energy transfer.
Function and characteristics
Storage module – Spring assembly and storage cylinders– Storing the energy for the switching operation
Monitoring module – Spring travel switch for monitoring the status of the stored energy
Charging module – Hydraulic pump with motor for charging the storage module
Working module – Main cylinder with piston rod operating the circuit-breaker– Integrated end position damping
Control module – Main valve operating the working module– Includes the coils for initiating the switching operation
Adapter – For coupling to the circuit-breaker– Includes the auxiliary switch assembly, which monitors the switching position of the circuit-breaker– Optional lateral force support for rotational feedthrough connection to the circuit-breaker
