MUSIC
Music activity at M. M. l has moved on to accomplish higher goals of perfection than at any time in the past. As in the past we have been beset by interruptions and lack of time- but somehow they all tum out for the best. In the regional contest this year a good quartette will represent the school and keep your eye on the newly organized group called the "CADET ENSEMBLE. •• If the energy and inspiration of Capt. T. Siwicki doesn't give out- M. M. I. will carry out a new host of honors in the spring contests.
For the Yuletide season of the past year, the CADET CAROLERS spread more cheer and good will than ever before as far as program go. Eleven programs we put on in a short period of eight days. Words of praise must go out to the faithful efforts of Cadet Phil Harding, accompanist of the highest order for all groups.
In the past 5 years the quartette has won a total of 7 superior and 3 excellent ratings in regional and the final competition. The choir has won a total of 3 superior and 2 excellent ratings.
"Music hath charms"- but nothing beats the pleasure of working down a spiritual like "Soon-ah Will Be Done" or perfect teamwork of "Lift Thine Eyes". The creed of the Music Dept. is: "Not to win a prize or award-but to emulate the best".
Two former choir members are majoring in music now and a number are singing with the Bluejackets Navy Choir, U. of Cincinnati Chorus, Transylvania University Choir and few other tap organizations.

MILITARY VIEWS
The Military Dept, at M. M. I. is organized to conform with section 55c of the National Defense Act. Objectives of this course of study are: To lay the foundation for or instill intelligent citizenship by teaching the respect for constituted authority, principles of leadership, and habits of precision, orderliness, courtesy, and real essentials of posture and deportment. The cadet is given all basic military training which will be of benefit to him - if and hen he becomes a member of any branch of the U, S. Armed Service.
The complete course comprises of three years of instruction, pro-rated at 96 hours each year. At M. M. I., we give more than the allotted time. One hundred and eight classroom lectures are held and one hundred and fifty hrs. of drill are held yearly. Our classroom lectures include the World Military Situation, Military Organization, Military courtesies, Customs, and Rules of Conduct, Hygiene and First Aid, Leadership, Drill, Exercise of Command, Physical dev. Methods, Individual Weapons and Marksmanship and Small Units Tactics, Maps and Photographs, Military History of the United States, and Military Teaching Methods. Drill time is spent on perfecting close order drill, manual of arms, extended order drill, rifle exercises, and the Army "daily dozen".
At the present time, the Army has only two ratings for schools of this type. They are "Satisfactory" and "Unsatisfactory". We have maintained a Satisfactory rating from the inception of such ratings. Our last Ordnance rating was -. 06 defective. In order to have a satisfactory rating, a school must have less than -. 1 percent of its equipment defective.

APPRECIATION
The staff of the 1952 version of the "SNIPER'', wishes to express its deep appreciation to Capt. T. A. Siwicki, for reviving the yearbook and for his untiring efforts to produce the new version.
Much of the fine photoa.raphy contained within the volume exemplifies the fine skill of Capt, E. May.
Our sincere thanks to the many cadets-that without their offering such fine snapshots, our annual would lack the color and exua interest,
Thanks a million!
May we have the pleasure of producing a "SNIPER" again in 1953!
