The group was last seen in Mineola in their performance of “The Heiress”. This outstanding drama deals with the subject of sexual harassment, and political correctness, topics that are prevalent in today’s society. 350+ YEAR EVOLUTION OF SALSASATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 AT 2:00PMWITH JOSE OBANDO AND ENSEMBLEJose Obando traces the development of salsa beginning with the manufacture and use of percussion by the Africans, which was permitted by the Spaniards in their Caribbean colonies. They cover the music from Puerto Rico, Cuban, and the Dominican Republic as well as salsa. He will demonstrate salsa and teach the lively and simple merengue from the Dominican Republic. Jose Obando is the incorporator of the salsa museum in Spanish Harlem and its former executive director.
