8. The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To

reduce risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet

only one way. If plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse plug. If it still

does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify plug in any way.

9. Caution: A short power cord is provided to reduce risks from entanglement

or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord may be used when marked

electrical rating is no less than electrical rating of this appliance. All cords

should not drape over counter or tabletop where cords can be tripped over

or pulled on unintentionally, especially by children.

10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or heated oven. Extreme caution must be used when moving products containing hot

liquids.

11. Do not place the base of your kettle in a metal tray. If water spills over in to

the tray, and a build-up occurs, it could become dangerous to touch.

12. Position the kettle to the rear of work surfaces to prevent over hanging of the power cord. Water can remain hot for a considerable time after boiling

and can present a scald hazard.

FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLYElectrical 3-conductor Cord Set: Appliance is equipped with a 3-conductor cord set that has a 3 prong grounding-type plug. It should be properly connected to a grounding-type

a 3-grounding outlet unit, and as such, the grounding prong should never be removed. If needed, purchase a 2-prong adapter and ground it to the outlet.

Do not use an adapter unless you are

A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.

Basic Operation:

Place the base on a dry, ˛a t plane, and insert the plug into the electrical socket.

The power will turn on automatically once the kettle is placed on its base.

1. Press the key quickly, the kettle will start boiling once you hear a beep.

3 . Press once to change the temperature to 140°F. The LED light will

change from red to green. The kettle will stop heating once the

water temperature has reached 140°F.

4 . Press twice to change the temperature to 160°F. The LED light will

change from green to blue. The kettle will stop heating once the

water temperature has reached 160°F.

5 . Press three times to change the temperature to 175°F. The LED light will

change from blue to yellow. The kettle will stop heating once the

water temperature has reached 175°F.

6 . Press four times to change the temperature to 195°F. The LED light will

change from yellow to purple. The kettle will stop heating once the

water temperature has reached 195°F.

After the water has boiled, the indicator light will turn off and you will hear

another beep.

Advanced operation:

2. Press A for 3 seconds. When you hear a beep, the heater will start

boiling and the LED light will be illuminated in red. When the water reaches boiling, the keep warm mode will maintain water temperature for 2 hours

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all of the various packaging,stickers or accessories from both the

inside and outside of the kettle.

2. Adjust the length of the cord by winding it under the base. Wedge the cord

into the notch.

TO OPEN THE LID, ACCORDING TO THE MODEL

• Hinged lid: press if necessary on the locking system and pull backwards.

• Assisted opening lid: press on the locking system and the lid lifts automatically

• Automatic opening lid: press the button at the top of the handle

• Lockable lid: turn the lid counterclockwise to unlock and lift it.

To close the lid, press it down ÿrmly or turn it clockwise in the case of the

lockable lid.

PLACE THE BASE ON A FLAT, STABLE,HEAT-RESISTANT SURFACE AWAY FROM

WATER SPLASHES AND ANY SOURCES OF HEAT.

• Your kettle must only be used with the base that matches it and its own

anti-scale ÿlter.

FILL THE KETTLE WITH THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF WATER

• You can ÿll it through the spout, which ensures better maintenance of the ÿlter.

As a minimum, cover the element (or the bottom of the kettle) with water.

• Never ÿll the kettle when it is on its base.

• Do not ÿll it above the maximum level, or below the minimum level. If the

kettle is too full, boiling water may spill out.

• Do not use without water.

• Check that the lid is closed properly before use.

• The kettle must always be used with its own ÿlter.

CLEANING YOUR KETTLE

Unplug it.

Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.

• Never immerse the kettle, its base, the cord or the electric plug in water: the

electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water.

• Do not use scouring pads.

CLEANING THE FILTER

The removable ÿlter consists of a mesh to retain the particles of scale and

prevent them falling into your cup when pouring. This ÿlter neither treats nor

removes the hardness of the water. It thus conserves all the qualities of the water.

With very hard water, the ÿlter can clog very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is

important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, put it under a running tap, if dry, then

brush it gently. Sometimes the scale will not detach itself, it will then need

de-scaling.

To remove the anti-scale ÿlter, lift the kettle o˜ its base and allo w to cool. Never

remove the filter when the appliance is full of hot water.

DE-SCALING

De-scale regularly, preferably at least once a month or more frequently if your

water is very hard.

To de-scale your kettle using white vinegar:Fill the kettle with 1/2 l of vinegar

Leave to stand for 1 hour without heating

To de-scale your kettle using citric acid:

Boil 1/2 L of water

Add 25g of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 min

Using a de-scaler specifically for plastic kettles:

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary.

To de-scale your filter:

Soak the filter in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.

Never use a de-scaling method other than that recommended.

CLEANING YOUR KETTLE

TO START THE KETTLE

Press the on/o˜ butt on positioned on the top or the bottom of the handle

according to the model.

FOR KETTLES THAT FEATURE A TEMPERATURE SWITCH

If you move quickly from position 1 to position 2 after heating the water, the

kettle has to reinitialize. If you think that this is taking a long time, you can add

cold water to speed up the start of heating.

THE KETTLE MAY HAVE AN INTERNAL LIGHT, DEPENDING ON MODEL

THE KETTLE WILL SWITCH OFF AUTOMATICALLY

As soon as the water reaches boiling point or the chosen temperature. You can

stop it manually, before removing it from its base to pour the water. Depending

on the model, the interior light and the indicator light will go out when the

water reaches boiling point. Make sure that the ON/OFF button is in the o˜

position after boiling and that the kettle has switched o˜ bef ore removing it

from its base. Throw away the water from the ÿrst two or three uses.

Do not leave water in the kettle after use as this quicken the formation of scale.

inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer

accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.

• Only use your kettle for boiling drinking water.

• Only plug the appliance into a grounded socket. Check that the voltage

indicated on the rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of the outlet

voltage. You are advised not to use a multiple adapter plug.

• Do not use the kettle when you have wet hands or bare feet.

• Take care not to place the kettle and its base on a hot surface, such as a hot

plate, or to use it near an open ˛ame .

applicable to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to a third party

user. Repair or replacement of defective parts is solely at the seller’s discretion.

Product defects not covered under the Warranty provisions include normal wear

IF THERE IS NO EVIDENT DAMAGE TO YOUR KETTLE

• The kettle does not work or stops before coming to the boil:

Check that your kettle is properly connected.

• The kettle has been switched on without water or an accumulation of scale has caused

the automatic shut-o˜ t o engage

Allow the kettle to cool and ÿll it with water. Descale ÿrst if scale has accumulated.

Switch it on: the kettle should start working again after about 15 minutes.

• The water tastes of plastic:

Generally, this happens when the kettle is new.

Discard the water from the ÿrst few boilings. If the problem persists, ÿll the kettle to

maximum and add two teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda. Bring to the boil and

de-scale the water. Rinse out the kettle.

IF YOUR KETTLE HAS BEEN DROPPED, IF IT LEAKS OR IF THERE IS VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE

POWER CORD, THE PLUG OR THE BASE OF THE KETTLE

• Do not attempt to dismantle the kettle in any way.

• Return your kettle to authorized service center, only they are authorized to make repairs.

• See the guarantee conditions and list of centers in the booklet supplied with your

kettle. The type and serial number are shown on the bottom of your kettle. This

guarantee covers manufacturing defects. Any breakage or damage resulting from

failure to comply with the instructions for use voids the guarantee.

• Gourmia reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its

kettles at any time in the interests of the consumer.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or

authorized service center.
