Commissioned by VERSTEEL to design the Chela chair for the conference and training markets, RobertoLucci and Paolo Orlandini have an extensive design background. Based in Italy, their design partnershipstarted in 1968. Since then the two have designed over 250 products which have been or are nowbeing regularly manufactured and sold in large quantities throughout the United States and Europe.Among the design team’s projects are office chairs and sofas for manufacturers such as Versteel,Thonet and Knoll, office furniture for Mascagni, Ora-Vinco and Knoll, as well as kitchen units,household appliances, lamps, television sets, boats, and children’s products. With their designs in thecollections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Centre National D’ Art Contemporain of theLouvre in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; having exhibited at the Museum of Artand Industry in Hamburg; and the Chicago Athenaeum among others, the design team is muchrespected throughout the design world.

Chela seating from unites a steel frame with a molded shell of resilient, flexible, polypropylene resin. The seat and back move in harmony,creating an ergonomic experience that is both supportive and comfortable. Chela is offered in a variety of frame styles including sled base, swivel, guest andstools. A satin textured shell is available in 11 colors with multiple upholstery selections, while the frame is offered with a powder coat or chrome finish.
