TANZANIA

Maryknoll has served in Africa for 70 years. There are a number of volunteer opportunities for indi-vidual and groups ranging from four weeks up to a year. These include medical work, social services among gifted children and adults, and informal teaching with young adults. These take place in a rural setting of the Shinyanga region, in the city of Mwanza on Lake Victoria, and in the major city of Dar es Salaam, a port on the Indian Ocean.

THAILAND/MYANMAR

In Thailand, volunteers work in Bangkok. A minimum commitment of six weeks is required. Opportunities include teaching English; working with children; visiting prisoners and working with refugees. In Myanmar, volunteers teach English at the LaSalle Brothers school in Yangon. Volunteers are respon-sible for airfare and medical insurance. The terms concerning food and lodging depend upon the length of their commitment.

TAIWAN GAP YEAR PROGRAM

As graduates prepare for their professional careers, there is usually a ‘gap’ period of time where they can give of themselves in service to others. This is a perfect opportunity to come to Taiwan to live out your faith and participate in God’s Mission among the peoples of the world. Maryknoll offers service opportunities for a period of 6 months to

1 year (exceptions can be made for both timeline and age requirements).
