Antje von Dewitz CEO VAUDE

2012, our yearof the backpackDear Friends of VAUDE,

It all began with a backpack. In 1974, my father founded VAUDE. Shortly afterwards came the first VAUDE backpacks – functional and high-quality backpacks – that had a strong appeal and gave the company its first tailwind. Even today, the backpack still enjoys a very special place at VAUDE. Our goal: to produce the best product possible for each application. Our responsibility: to ensure environmentally friendly and fair production. Our motto for the Year of the Backpack 2012: "Highest performance meets ecology". With a bit of pride we can say that we have been quite successful. I am therefore pleased to introduce you to our innovative Backpack Collection 2012.

Have fun browsing and wishing you an eventful summer

The dream of every Alpinist: Patagonia, granite giants at the end of the world, where the rock calls out amid stunning scenery. The great challenge, the ultimate play-ground for hope, longing and adventure. Those spending time here need gear they can rely on.

Because performance shouldn’t come at a cost to the environment, our packs with the Green Shape label satisfy the strictest ecological criteria along with the toughest demands made by the mountains. The six climbers we sent as part of the VAUDE Patagonia Experience to Mount Fitz Roy were convinced. Beyond the ice and snow, long ascents and capricious wea-ther, a very intense peak experience awaited. We make our products for times like these.

And for times like these to come, we make them green.

Because we love making dreams come true

For the way.For the wall. Our challenge: To develop a backpack that is as sustainable as it is professional. Our solution: The Challenger. Because when not only the way, but the wall is the goal, this innovative and OutDoor Industry Gold Award winning alpine pack is in its element! Sophisticated attachment points, external crampon compartment, innovative suspension system, professional organization and the use of bluesign® certified materials make it a reliable partner for challenging climbs or high elevation ski tours. Sustainability that functions.Take a deep breath, keep the pedals cranking and start living! Whether it’s a quick spin through the woods, a grinder climb or a singletrack drop with five star prospects: biking is multifaceted. Just like our packs. Because different conditions call for different solutions. The only thing in our Gravit backpacks that stays the same is the common denominator: we are sold on its function. And we are sold on functioning sustaina-bility. That’s why we rely on environmentally friendly materials. Because it’s the only way to a full-cycle biking experience.

Colorful tailwind with plenty of performance. We go a step further. New approaches are created by moving forward. And moving forward is an approach. An approach to nature, an approach to adventure, an approach to yourself; you feel the effortlessness of your journey, not what’s on your back. Because we went a step further with our backpacks and have fine-tuned them for each activity and for each need. Whether your goal is a leisurely hike or an ambitious mountain adventure – we’ve got your back covered so you can focus on your approach.

Darling loads just got a little lighter.Great forest, meadow and family companions. Our most important critics are right here among us: at our own on-site daycare center. Drab backpacks? Not with us! Fun has to feel good on your back too. And, of course, be eco-friendly. As a family-run company, we are happy to carry this responsibility. Just like we love to carry our kids. That‘s why we’ve got Wallaby, Cobie and Puck, developed and produced for the entire family, for those little outings in-between, for exciting escapades into the great outdoors. Because everything is better when you do it together.
