  • CESSNA 172 CESSNA 172 Electrical Overload Spin Recovery 1.) OVER VOLTAGE light is illuminated: Throttle idle Master Switch OFF, then ON Ailerons neutral Rudder full opposite direction of rotation 2.) If OVER VOLTAGE light illuminates a second time: Control Wheel full forward Rudder neutral when rotation stops Electrical Load reduce Control Wheel as required to smoothly regain Land as soon as practical level flight attitude Alternator Failure Carburetor Icing If the ammeter indicates a continuous discharge rate in Carburetor Heat ON flight, the alternator is not supplying power to the Mixture adjust for maximum engine smoothness system and should be shut down. Engine RoughnessAlternator Switch OFF Electrical Load reduce Carburetor Heat ON Land as soon as practical If roughness continues: Carburetor Heat OFF Mixture adjust for maximum smoothness Fuel Selector Switch Tanks Primer in and locked Magnetos cycle Engine Gauges check for abnormal indications Low Oil Pressure Land as soon as possible
