Atmospheric and Marine Sciences Summer School Uni-CV Praia – Cabo Verde The first atmospheric and marine sciences summer school will be held in the Campus of Pal- marejo of the University of Cape Verde in Praia. The 3 days summer school is an initiative of the Leibniz institute of tropospheric research (TRO- POS) as part of the marine atmospheric sciences unraveled (MARSU) project that aims at transfer- ring scientific expertise between some European countries, China, Morocco and Cape Verde. The summer school is organized together with the Cape Verde Atmospheric Observatory (CVAO) con- sortium and the university of Cape Verde. The school will focus on the fundamentals of atmospheric sciencs including atmospheric com- position and chemistry as well as on measurement techniques applied to sample atmospheric aero- sols in both the gas and particle phases. Aerosol impacts on the environment relating to air quality, cloud formation, ocean atmosphere interaction and subsequent effects on climate will be ad- dressed. Another important part of the school will be the presentation of the newly built ocean science center Mindelo (OSCM) and the ongoing opportunities and future perspectives of marine sciences in Cape Verde and the region of West Africa. The students will gain qualitative understanding of marine atmospheric sciences that will encourage them to seek future career in these fields. The first atmospheric and marine sciences summer school will be held in the Campus of Pal-marejo of the University of Cape Verde in Praia. The 3 days summer school is an initiative of the Leibniz institute of tropospheric research (TRO-POS) as part of the marine atmospheric sciences unraveled (MARSU) project that aims at transfer-ring scientific expertise between some European countries, China, Morocco and Cape Verde. The summer school is organized together with the Cape Verde Atmospheric Observatory (CVAO) con-sortium and the university of Cape Verde.

The school will focus on the fundamentals of atmospheric sciencs including atmospheric com-position and chemistry as well as on measurement techniques applied to sample atmospheric aero-sols in both the gas and particle phases. Aerosol impacts on the environment relating to air quality, cloud formation, ocean atmosphere interaction and subsequent effects on climate will be ad-dressed. be the presentation of the newly built ocean science center Mindelo (OSCM) and the ongoing opportunities and future perspectives of marine sciences in Cape Verde and the region of West Africa. The students will gain qualitative understanding of marine atmospheric sciences that will encourage them to seek future career in these fields.
