Start Up

Oil flows through the check valve (A) to accumulator (B), the end of pressure controller (D), and to the lower piston area (C).

The pressure controller (D) closes, blocking the oil path between piston area (E) and the return line to tank.

Hydraulic oil pressure acting on the accumulator membrane compresses the nitrogen gas inside the accumulator, storing energy.

Upward Stroke

When the preset operating pressure has been reached, pressure controller (D) opens the piston area (E) to the return line to tank.

The piston starts moving upward due to pressure on area (C) of piston.

Impact Stroke

Once the piston reaches the highest position, pilot oil flows through the pilot channel (H) to the end of the main valve spool (G).

The main valve spool shifts, connecting oil in accumulator (B) to the piston area (E).

The shifting valve begins the impact stroke, during which oilis supplied from the accumulator to the piston shoulder (E).

Return Cycle

The piston moves downwards with high velocity striking the tool.

The cycle starts again when pilot channel (H)connects to tank line (L).

The main valve spool shifts by inlet pressure and connects piston area (E) to the pressure controller.

Reduced pressure on pressure controller (D) closes the tank line to piston area (E).

The piston remains in the lower position until the oil pressure rises and the cycle is repeated.
