OUTLINE PROFILE

A degree qualified Manager with a proven track record recruiting and working with both production and technical

teams. A coaching and mentoring approach has ensured a world class manufacturing operation exceeds its

commitments for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory and lean transformation. Excellent technical knowledge on

product and process design of Gas Sensors for either automated or hand build assembly lines, supported by in depth

understanding on the processes required to manufacture piece parts. A solid understanding of manufacturing,

miniaturization and technical project management. Skills gained from working through lean and six sigma

transformations and working with a successful world class team.

PRODUCT & PROCESS DESIGN

Over the last 3 years I have been working on designing a new platform of sensors which will be manufactured on a new

automated assembly line. A Marketing led global project which aims to create a ‘Honeywell User Experience’

contributing to the goal of Honeywell being the ‘Apple’ of the industrial world.

The line will have significantly improved flexibility, by utilizing the latest scalable, flexible robot technology, enabling it

to grow with demand and handle not only the high volume gas sensor product types, but also the low volume sensors.

This means that the sensor range will have world leading performance with the lowest manufacturing cost. My ability to

visualize sensor designs and translate a high degree of complexity into simple efficient manufacturing processes has

shaped the direction of this global project and my ability to solve the project problems has kept the project aligned with

the original vision. As one of three main contributors to IP on the project, as project ISC lead, I have worked closely with

the technical & design leads to realize this project.

PRODUCTION AND TEAM MANAGEMENT

Several years experience gained from working in a world class automated assembly manufacturing environment.

Recruited top talent and created a staff structure to ramp from a single shift to a flexible 3 or 4 shift 24/7 operation.

Cross functional direct reports including Process Engineers, Design Engineers, a Technical Purchaser, Production Shift

Supervisors, up to 35 staff in total. Responsibilities include establishing key performance metrics for the team, strategic

capacity planning, identifying and implementing processes and improvements, product development and NPI, root

cause analysis and visual management. Empowering the team to create a safe lean culture and to be self sufficient in the

day to day running and problem solving activities.

TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE

Has the ability to translate real life problems into design solutions. Working with gas sensors presents significant electro-

chemical-mechanical challenges requiring creative robust product and process designs. Patents held on vented Oxygen

Cell design, on labour saving sensor packaging and on new sensor technology. Halved the cycle time on an electrode

manufacturing line. Using a visual project management approach, led a team to design and manufacture an Oxygen cell

manufacturing line requiring many new, unique processes for a new oxygen sensor. Has road mapped a 50% reduction

in cycle time over the next 3 years for automated gas sensor assembly, using the latest technology, linear motors,

flexible robots and high speed vision systems.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Worked with the management team to develop a safety culture throughout production. Has created a team which has

sustained a high level of quality with low double digit ppm figures, production hourly tracking, action and escalation

plans. On time to request greater than 99%. Cost management and strong budget awareness, Inventory reduction.

Honeywell Operating System (HOS) deployment 5S, Kaizens, visual management lean & Six Sigma. Metrics improved

during high levels of growth over the last 3 years (12%, 13% & 25% YOY respectively).
