    Definition: Persons With Disability (PWD)

    Definition of Categories of Disabilities:

    (a) An Orthopaedically Challenged (OC) person is one suffering from Locomotor Disability or

    Cerebral Palsy. Persons who suffer from not less than 40% of relevant disability (as certifiedby a Medical Board appointed by the Central/State govt.) would be eligible for reservation in

    services/posts. Locomotor Disability means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading tosubstantial restriction of the movement of the limbs or any from of cerebral palsy. Cerebral

    Palsy means a group of non progressive conditions of a person characterized by abnormal

    motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries ocurring in the pre-natal, peri-natal,or infant period of development.

    (b) Deaf & Hearing Imparied (HI): the deaf are those persons in whom the sense of hearing is nonfunctional for ordinary purposes of life i.e. total loss of hearing in both ears. They do not hear,

    understand sounds at all even with amplified speech. Hearing impairment means loss of sixtydecibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.

    (c ) Visually Impaired. (VI) The visually impaired persons are those suffering from blindness or lowvision.Blindness- refers to a condition where a person suffers from any of the following conditions

    (i) total absence of sight, (ii) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen)in the bettereye with correcting lenses, (iii)Limitation of the field of vision sustending an angle of 20 degree

    Ph.D degree with first class (or equivalent) at Bachelors or Masters level in engineering/management

    / applied sciences discipline with eight (8) years of experience in Teaching/ Research and significant

    professional work. They should be occupying the position of a Reader in a recognized institution or

    at a senior level comparable to that of a Reader.

    General:

    The age of the candidate should be preferably below 55 years. Preference shall be given to

    candidates who have (i) Appropriate administrative experience (ii) Research guidance at Ph.D (for

    Dy. Registrar / Dy. Director, at Masters) level and good publications in referred journals. In-service

    candidates (equivalent to the grade of Professor/ Reader) from the Government educational institutions

    would have to submit ano objection certificate from the employers at the time of interview. Retired

    persons are not eligible for the above posts. The applications would be accepted only by Post; No
