TDW's BetterPlug™ Tool is a proven, non-tetheredpipeline isolation technology with numerous offshoreapplications, particularly as an alternative to time-consuming and costly pipeline de-inventorying or de-pressurizing. Compared to similar technologies,TDW’s offshore isolation service offers a safe, reliable,efficient and flexible maintenance alternative for complexsituations. The tool is designed to seal against pressureshigher than 6000 PSIG.

Remotely controlled by computer, TDW’s autonomousplugging pig service is a unique solution for temporarilyor permanently isolating a section of pipeline. Uponbeing launched, the autonomous plugging pig travelsdown the pipeline to a designated point and hydraulicallysets the isolation plugs in the line. To ensure a safe andtight seal, communication systems monitor the annuluspressure between plugs. The BetterPlug has a fail-safedesign that allows it to be removed from the pipeline.

3. Valve Installation. New legislation requiresinstallation of additional ESVs to complimentolder valve systems. With TDW’s remote operated plugging pig, this is a simple task. Also, subsea valves (SSIVs) can be installed ifplatform weight or space is an issue.

1. Valve Isolation. Valves can leak and often need to be replaced. TDW’s remote operated plugging pig allows isolation of a specific pipe section to replace main line valves, pig trap valves, emergency shut-downvalves (ESVs) and more. It’s compact size and light weight make it idealfor restrictive areas.

2. Pipeline/Riser Repair. Pipeline integrity is important. TDW’sBetterPlug™ Tool can be used to isolate lines in order to repair, replace and pressure test sections of pipelines or risers. The tool materials are suitable for gas, oil and refined products. Accomodations can be made for multiple size pipeline IDs.

The patented TDW BetterPlug Tool is capable of being set multiple times without exiting the pipeline for recharging.
